Most of you will have no idea what I'm talking about. If you're a Mets fan - there's no way you haven't noticed the unbeleivable about of time given on SNY to anti-smoking commercials. Particularly, the ones with Ronaldo Martinez, a man who got lung cancer from smoking and had to undergo a tracheotomy and is now forced to speak with a voicebox.
Don't get me wrong...it's terrific that SNY runs these commercials. I am personally a smoker and I have to say it does bother me to see these commercials. They aren't making me throw out my cigarettes immediately, but they do remind me quite often of why I should quit smoking sooner rather than later.
But enough is enough. These commercials must run 7-8 times during a 3-hour game and yesterday behind home plate the Mets fashioned a picture of him where I was forced to see Mr. Martinez and his tracheotomy throughout the game.
I applaud your efforts but I get it - smoking is bad. I just want to watch baseball!
