MLB Division Series Running Live Blog (10/2/08)

Wow, Cliff Floyd nearly made it back-to-back homers for the Rays here in the second inning. It was just barely foul.

Manny has already said he will not be live blogging this game, he wants to watch it with zero distractions. Vasquez is looking strong with his third K today.

This game is showing some pretty strong signs of a pitcher's duel. Only mistake in two innings of play, Longoria's home run.

Wise and Cabrera allow the Rays to get a runner on. Not a very bright idea against these dangerous Rays. The left fielder, Wise and SS Orlando Cabrera lets the ball drop in left field. The dome ceiling can make it hard to see the ball sometimes, obviously.

End of two after another Vasquez strikeout. Not much hitting going on so far.

Ben, you should separate into 3 games...too much liveblogging on one page clutters a lot (and makes loading a bitch)...

sometime we should attempt to use cover it live...perhaps pean can find a way to imbed it?

The Sox are threatening with two outs and two on. The young Dewayne Wise steps up. Wise hit .248 in 57 games. That doesn't look all that good. What does everyone think of Harold Reynolds

Where's that domination from Shields, Manny?? The young Wise helps Chicago take a 3-1 lead with one swing of that bat. And look who's up next? The power hitting Jermaine Dye. Uh-oh.

Upton shouldn't have been playing so shallow. Dye easily hits it over his head and walks to second. The crowd is dead right now...

Before the game I thought this would be a pitcher's game, but it's starting to look more and more like it's going to be a back-and-forth, high-scoring game. 3-2 Sox now with the Rays still threatening.

Damn, Longoria hits another one out.

Gee, Shields is looking rattled, eh?

BBB, Shields is prone to the long ball on occasion - in one inning - but he'll be fine...

Crap as I'm typing this, Maddon is saying the exact same thing.

Harold Reynold doesn't know James Shields very well... He's a high pitch count pitcher. He's similar to Curt Schilling but with more finesse and less emotion - lots of pitches, occasional long ball because he ATTACKS batters.

Manny, you need to get KD on here, cuz I really don't know much about these Rays. I attempt to live blog baseball games, but I just know football a whole lot better. I do know that Longoria is a special player, and both the Rays and Sox have great pitching and an overall powerful lineup. Both these teams have the potential to win the AL pennant if they survive the ALDS.
