High Point/Low Point of Your Favorite Teams' NFL Season

Posted by SSreporters

The season is almost over, and it ended for 30 other teams as of January 18th, 2009.

It's a little fun thread I made on another website, what was the high point and the low point for your favorite team's NFL season?

I'll give you mine.......

High Point: The firing of defensive coordinator, John Marshall.

Low Point: First play of a potential game-winning drive against the Cardinals, Matt Hasselbeck throws an INT to Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. One week later, first play of a potential game-winning drive against the Redskins, Hasselbeck throws an INT to his former teammate, Shawn Springs.

Honorable mention high point: Winning for Holmy in his home finale and knocking Favre out of the playoffs, and the 37-13 whipping over the Rams where TJ Duckett had 79 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Honorable mention low point: Losing to the 49ers, choking away the game against the Patriots, and BRIAN RUSSELL!!!!!!!!!

Your turn.

Easy:

High Point: Beating the Giants in the Divisional playoffs

Low Point: Tie (get it!) - Tying the Bungles and losing to the Cardinals in the NFC CG

High Point: Thursday night football in November against the Jets, coming from behind to tie it 31-31 and force OT

Low Point: Brett Favre throwing interceptions to the Dolphins, giving them the AFC East on a silver platter.

High Point: Winning the Super Bowl! AGAIN!

Low Point: Carey Davis.

But.....

High Point: Getting to the Super Bowl with a 2nd year head coach.

Low Point: Losing it to the f**king CARDINALS!

High point: Beating the Ravens a third time and getting to the Super Bowl. Really, any of the Ravens wins would qualify.

Low Point: A pathetic loss - complete with inept O-line play - to the Eagles. Compounded by actually attending the game. Something that happens about every 4-5 years. Honorable mention would go to Giants loss.

Also, losing Willie Parker for several games and rookie Rashard Mendenhall for the season. On that note, another high point would be Mewelde Moore.

Santonio Holmes was also at a high point earlier in the season.

I think it would have been a better season for a Texans fan. They weren't expecting a big season, but what they did get is a couple of close games with some good teams. They lost in OT against Jacksonville and by just a TD or less in three other games (two against Indy). I think if they had a good break or two go their way in those games, they may very well be a playoff team with an 11-5, 12-4 record. My advice, TayTay, run as far away as I could from the Cowboys and jump right on to the Texans bandwagon (I'm sure there's plenty of room). Houston will be a contender next season. Guys like Mario Williams and Andre Johnson will help keep this team together, and as a matter of fact, Matt Schaub showed signs of success during the season. Rookie of the Year candidate Steve Slaton showed everyone he's here to stay. If Houston improves their 22nd ranked defense, look out AFC South!

Even during a 4-12 season, I still have comfort seeing that moment AND knowing Dallas missed the playoffs just like Seattle.

For our next bit of fun, shall we count the teams that beat Seattle, SSR?

I was talking with a friend last week that despite their conference finals heartbreakers, we'd switch recent history (last 10-12 years) with the Eagles in a heartbeat. It frustrates me to no end that the Cardinals are now added to that list as well. Hence, "This season blows."

Ben, thanks for the suggestion, and I agree that Houston is headed up--I wouldn't be surprised if they make a Cardinal-like showing next year. And while I know people who have made the switch (remnant Jerry Jones vs. Tom Landry hostilities), I will not waver. But I will freely admit that they are a hard team to root for.

I was thinking that too, but when he went down, I still had some hope to make the postseason. We had an easy schedule ahead of us, and 12-4, 11-5, or 10-6 were extremely likely results. Typically those records get teams into the playoffs.

When Favre threw that 2nd pick in week 17 against Miami, though, there was no hope left.

High Point: Being in attendance at two of the Packers biggest victories. Colts and Bears. Both at Lambeau. Both have a sweet taste as the two teams are fan favorites in the region in which I live, Northern Indiana.

Low Point: The entire month of December.

As a Cowboys fan I have to agree with TT up there. The high point was TO's celebration against Browns in week 1. The low low point was the rest of the season and the nightmare just continues
