Detroit Live Blog (5/28/08)

Posted by Behbigben15

Well, it's a big night for Detroit (in the sports world). In the NBA the Detroit Pistons take on the Boston Celtics for game 5 in the Eastern Conference Finals (series tied 2-2). I will be live blogging for that game, which tips off in a few minutes.

In the Hockey world, my Pittsburgh Penguins are trying to stay alive against the Detroit Red Wings (PITT is down 2-0, and are playing at home). There is 14 minutes to go in the first period with the game scoreless.

Let the Blogging begin!!!

Luckily (for Boston), the Celtics are playing on their home court. BUT, Detroit has been great on the road this year.

This has been a pretty exciting opening QTR, and it's not even over yet. For those just joining us, here on AGM, Boston has a one-point lead the Detroit Pistons, 17-16, with 3:09 to go in QTR #1. Rasheed, and Perkins both doing things not expected of them. Perkins is the Celts' leading scorer, and rebounder, and Wallace is 3 of 4 from the 3-point line.

End of the 1st QTR. Boston and Detroit are tied up at 23, what a Quarter!!

Rasheeeeeed with 3 three pointers (on 4 attempts), and his 9 points leads Detroit.

Chauncey Billups has 8 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist as he is looking a little cautious, but has been a factor nonetheless.

Perkins had a great quarter for Boston, scoring 8 points (tied for most on team with Paul Pierce), and grabbing an astounding 8 rebounds in 12 minutes!

Let the second quarter begin!!

End of third QTR. Boston leads 84-71, Ray Allen, like I said earlier, was long overdue for a big game. And, he has had a great game. Allen has 24 points, including 5 three-pointers, missing just 1 attempt from behind the 3-point line. Detroit is going to have to hit their free throws (every point makes a difference), avoid turnovers (obviously), and REBOUND, REBOUND, REBOUND. Give Billups, and Hamilton a chance to hit the J.

As well as Boston has done offensively, I think it would have been better if their bench contributed more. Too much has been placed on the shoulders of the big 3 and you have to wonder if they are fatigued and whether it will hurt them in the long run.
