Here's a great pair that share today as their birthday.

Jeremy Roenick.

Muhammad Ali.

What would you say on their birthday cards?

This is not my contest entry. If you are going to do this every day, let me know -- we can build a little thing which automatically pulls a list. But it'd take a lot of time to build 366 different pages with birthdays.

I'm only making these posts based off this daily sports calendar I got for Christmas. For the most part, it's only when it's a name most people would recognize, like Ali, Pujols, etc.

I wrote something a year ago today on Ali [1]. The man was a great athlete. I'll just steal Manny's Analogy for this one b/c it's so good:
Saying Tyson is better than Ali is like saying Nirvana is better than the Beatles. Sure Nirvana had some hits, you like the songs and were big for a time, but the Beatles transcend time; maybe the songs don't resonate the same today because you're so familiar it was never new to you, but their work was unimaginable at the time, like Ali (and frankly, if not for the Beatles coming first, there could never be a Nirvana) Nirvana went up against the likes of TLC and Pearl Jam on the charts, the Beatles outsold the likes of Elvis and Motown.
It's a tyson-ali debate, but the point still rings true. Ali was a revolution in his sport, and must be remembered for as long as possible

The only thing Tyson beats Ali in is stupidity and insanity.
However, Tyson can't compete with the stupidity and insanity of the Ultimate Warrior.

Ali has no equal - before, during or after. And neither does Tupac for that matter.
