List of Games Officiated by Tim Donaghy

Below is a list of all games officiated by Tim Donaghy the past two years. Each game has a link to the official box score on nba.com.

Help gather information for each game that lends support for/against Donaghy on allegations that he "fixed" any games. Add statistics from games, including foul shots for each team (one possible way of affecting the score differential is to call a lot more fouls on one team than another), observations, youtube videos, etc.

Just click "edit" on the right side of each game and add the information.

From Covers.com: On Feb. 18, 2006 Donaghy called a mysterious three-second defensive violation on the Indiana Pacers with a little over a minute left in a game they were leading the San Antonio Spurs by five. Manu Ginobili then went and made the free-throw and then a three-pointer on the next possession to help the Spurs to a 92-88 win. The Pacers still covered the spread, but the 13 points scored in the final 1:28 allowed the game to go over by 5 ½ points.

Orlando coach Brian Hill said, "I was disappointed that the game wasn't decided by the players, that it was decided by the officials."

BETTING LINE -- Pistons +2

FINAL SCORE -- Detroit 90, at Nets 82

FOUL TOTALS -- Nets 27, Pistons 23

ANYTHING UNUSUAL -- The betting line itself is very curious. The 13-8 Pistons were coming off an 11-point loss at Indiana (where they were favored) and two full days of rest, and you knew they were going to jump into this one with both feet; the Nets were playing a back-end game (they got clobbered at Toronto the night before), they were already officially crummy (9-13), and they were showing no heart whatsoever at home (6-7). The Philadelphia 76ers were originally favored to beat the Toronto Raptors by a point. Bets came in so heavily on the Raptors that they eventually were favored to win by a point instead. Toronto won 104-86. [2]

[edit] January 17, 2007: Suns 100, Rockets 91

So much money was bet on the Phoenix Suns against the Houston Rockets that the consensus Las Vegas line, which opened at the Suns favoured by 4 1/2 points, moved to eight by tipoff. The Suns won by nine, 100-91. [3]

FINAL SCORE -- Knicks 99, Heat 93

TOTAL FOULS -- Heat 25, Knicks 14 (Knicks took 39 foul shots to just 8 for Heat)

ANYTHING UNUSUAL -- Other than the Knicks winning? Actually, this would be Exhibit A because of the foul-shooting disparity, if not for the fact the game was taken off the board because Wade was out and no one knew how many minutes Shaq would play. It was part of a string in which three of four Heat games were taken down. Still, Donaghy's crew sent a parade of Knicks to the foul line, and even T'd up assistant coach Ron Rothstein (no relation to famous fixer Arnold Rothstein, mind you.) After the game Pat Riley said the Heat were too passive to get the foul calls. [4]

The spread on this game was Heat +4.5. With less than 1 min to go Donaghy called a foul on a Heat player that sent Crawford to the line where he hit 2 free throws. pushing the lead to a 6 pt game and blowing the cover. Donaghy called that foul.

Bill Simmons wrote this after the game: "Congratulations to Greg Willard, Tim Donaghy and Eddie F. Rush for giving us the most atrociously officiated game of the playoffs so far: Game 3 of the Suns-Spurs series. Bennett Salvatore, Tom Washington and Violet Palmer must have been outraged that they weren't involved in this mess. Good golly. Most of the calls favored the Spurs, but I don't even think the refs were biased -- they were so incompetent that there was no rhyme or reason to anything that was happening. Other than the latest call in NBA history (a shooting foul for Ginobili whistled three seconds after the play, when everyone was already running in the other direction), my favorite moment happened near the end, when the game was already over and they called a cheap bump on Bruce Bowen against Nash, so the cameras caught Mike D'Antoni (the most entertaining coach in the league if he's not getting calls) screaming sarcastically, "Why start now? Why bother?" What a travesty. Not since the cocaine era from 1978-1986 has the league faced a bigger ongoing issue than crappy officiating." [5]

this is the bowen knee game the lack of reaction from stern causes me to think he is implicated this league has no transparency stern's reaction to any criticism has always been to fine or fire the critic it is time for stern to be suspended or fired

Eddie Rush needs to be looked at as well. Look at the last call in the spurs suns video. he is starring at steve nash getting prison raped in the lane! Maybe I'm just to die hard of a warriors fan but those playoff games in utah seemed officiated very one sided but I may just be a fan with clouded vision.

spurs were ripped off in 04 and 06 by questionable calls so i agree with mike, why start now? lol, even if these calls really were questionable, i can find a million examples of dallas getting every call or wade or kobe for that matter.

This is not about favoring any team. It's about money. Donaghy doesn't care whether he screws the Suns or the Spurs, or Dallas or the Heat. As long as he gets paid for the right outcome or point spread.

20 Blazer games...and all losses. No wonder Rasheed wanted to choke him outside the Garden.
