Hi everyone. My name is Mack Rosenberg and I am new here at ArmchairGM. I have written for many blogs in the past and I am also the co-host of Profootball Talk Radio, and NFL podcast on 360thepitch.com. You might want to check that out. I will be posting baseball and football updates throughout the year.
My first update will be about baseball. The offseason is here, and as a big baseball fan and New York Mets fan, I have compiled a list of some offseason moves that I think should happen and that would benefit either team.
1.Mets get: Barry Zito Athletics get: Lastings Milledge
This trade was rumored over the course of last season as a trade that might go down towards the all-star break. I think it was a good decision made by the Mets to wait on Barry Zito until the off season. Now he is a free agent, and the Mets are among the front runners to acquire him. They need starting pitching and although Milledge performed quite well in his time with the Mets last year, New York already has enough weapons that posses the same qualities as Milledge, older guys who are just entering their prime like Endy Chavez and Jose Valentine. The A's need the bats. We saw them get whooped in the ALCS because they didn't have alot of hot bats thanks to injuries of Mark Ellis and Bobby Crosby. Milledge will bring some talented, and much needed youth to Oakland.
2. Yankees get: Vincente Padilla and Carlos Lee, Rangers get: Alex Rodriguez
This deal is probably just a waste of time writing about because the Yankees are most likely going to hold on to A-Rod. This, however would be a sweet deal for both teams if it did go down. The Yankees need starting pitching after the loss of Cory Lidle, and now Jaret Wright. Padilla is one of those guys like Jeff Weaver, although in my mind better, who the Yankees coaching staff can transform into a quality third or fourth starter. Carlos Lee can be inserted in right field to fill Gary Sheffield's role as the big man with the powerful swing. Third base would however be a struggle to fill but I'm sure the Yankees farm system has somebody to fill the void.
Yankees get: Gil Meche and Jeremy Reed, Mariners get: Mike Mussina and Ron Villone
The Yankees will have to give pitching to get pitching and a young, experienced vet like Gil Meche could be the perfect fit in New York. I think it's safe to say that Mike Mussina's best years are behind him, but he will be an uplifter for a young Seattle franchise that needs the savvy leadership that Mussina possesses. I like Jeremy Reed as another youngster that can play the field and should get the opportunity to be on a winning team like the Yankees.
Well, that's just a start to my sports updates here on ArmChairGM. Thanks for the contributions and you can Email me at LEFTY120491@gmail.com. Thanks alot.
