I don't use terms like "lock", because there is no such thing... But this game is so so sweet. What little doubt I may have had washed away when heavy-running teams Oregon State and Stanford just put up 64 points despite a very slow start. Rice returns virtually its entire offense, led by QB Chase Clement and WR beast Jarett Dillard. This team simply loves to pass and will do so early and often. They will have no trouble at all putting up points on SMU. The main reason the under has been getting hit hard (went from 74.5 to 69.5!) is the benching of Justin Willis, SMU's all-time leading touchdown passer, in favor of a true freshman. But when you think about it, it speaks volumes for how much faith Jones has in this kid; to bench a successful QB in favor of a true freshman is quite an odd move to make. Until you search Bo Levi Mitchell on youtube and watch his highlight reel. He is Colt Brennan reincarnate. Cannon arm, rolls out of the pocket with speed, throws seamlessly cross-body on the move... There just isn't any way this kid won't put up points in a pass happy system on a bad Rice defense. And if he throws 3 picks, guess what... that just means Rice is heading the other way to score! In what should be a true shootout through and through, the over 69.5 is an absolute steal. The question then is who wins? All of the tiebreakers go to Rice; - At Home - Returning offensive players and coach, as opposed to new QB and new coach/system in SMU - Motivation; while SMU will be motivated under new coach Jones, Rice has high hopes this year and also lost their season opener embarrassingly to Nicholls State last year; they will be amped up to make sure this does not happen again. -3.5 points isn't bad at all, but to be super safe, the ML should suffice. Clock stops on 1st downs and incomplete passes and there will be a whole hell of a lot of em. Do not miss this. The public/bookmakers are so worried about Thursday and Saturday's games that they apparently let this one slip through the cracks. "Myrmidons! My brothers of the sword! I would rather fight beside you than any army of thousands! Let no man forget how menacing we are, we are lions! Do you know what's waiting beyond that beach? Immortality! Take it! It's yours! "
