2007 ArmchairGM Games Series (09/06)

It's time for one of my "When I have the time" updates on the ArmchairGM Games Series, where anyone and everyone can enter Fantasy Sports or Online Games to determine who will be the ArmchairGM Games Series Champion for 2007.

As ever, there have been a lot of developments to report over the last month or so, reports of which are included. There are also many other games that can be entered for, details of which are forthcoming.

Reports

Mega Bowls

Still no progress in the Mega Bowl of Chess and Mega Bowl of Pool ladder system. Alex Holowczak is winning both of them, purely by being the first to take part in them, and having not had a successful challenge yet in either chess or pool on Yahoo!

Fantasy Baseball

Alex Holowczak has gone into the lead, although Tylersalt and Kelsdad are barely anything behind. At one stage this week, the three were separated by 0.41 points. Considering they each had almost 650 points each, you can see how close it really is.

Fantasy Golf

Joebook continues to lead. The 8 competitors are well spread, with Kelsdad and Bball3345 in pursuit.

Stick Cricket

There's been some slacking in the scoring lately, as users aren't setting a score once every five days! With a couple of hours remaining in Round 4, Salhye and Tylersalt are two notable absentees from the scoring chart.

Overall, Salhye leads, with Alex Holowczak in second. Third place may not have a user account, in which case, the third place is actually Taytay24.

Upcoming Games

Batracer

This is a plea from me I'm afraid! Batracer is a wonderful Formula One simulator that allows you to setup cars etc. and is very playable even if you know nothing about Formula One. Just ask False Prophet.

However, at least 10 are needed to start a private game. The list of participants so far are:

* denotes friends of mine that are agreeing to take part, a few to get to the magical mark of 10.

The starting date has been selected, hopefully we can start in a week or two, after exams finish for everybody on both sides of the Atlantic. The game requires about 5 minutes game play each day for 17*2 days (34 days in total).

Mega Bowls

Feel free to challenge a user to a game of Pool or Chess on Yahoo to join our ladder system. Go to a user's talk page to challenge them to a game, then arrange a date, and play your game! Then record the challenge on the page in question.

Other games upcoming

You've heard of Stick Cricket, the same site is developing Stick Baseball! I hope to start this in the future, I figure there will be more interest in that than cricket! It's only in beta still at the moment, so I'll wait until a League mode is developed before giving more information.

And just two month or so until the Football season starts, with Salary Cap Football and normal Football counting towards the 2007 season.

The 2008 season will begin in October 2007 with the NHL and NBA Fantasy Games (bear in mind they end in 2008, it's quite justified).
