Zip Collins (John Edgar Collins) was born on May 2, 1892 in Brooklyn, New York. He made his Major League debut on July 31, 1914 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1914, his rookie year, he hit .242 with 0 home runs and 15 RBI. Collins played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Braves and Philadelphia Athletics over the course of his 5 year career.
Most people believe that Zip Collins's best season was 1915, when he hit for a .293 average.
