Young talent does not make a team

I am not the ultimate authority on the NBA, in fact I did not watch a single playoff game after the Suns-Spurs series. I am more of a college basketball fan, and out of the four major professional sports leagues I watch the NBA the least.
I watched some of the draft the other night, and saw Portland make a bunch of draft picks and moves to get young players. I also saw the Sonics trade Ray Allen to get the chance to pick Jeff Green, and they got Kevin Durant with the #2 pick.
As a college basketball fan I appreciate these picks, and think that this was a very deep draft and that many of these players have bright futures.
The problem is that fans of these teams have already put unreasonable expectations on these teams. I've read things where people are predicting the Blazers, and Sonics to make the playoffs. I've ever heard, and read about how these teams are now better than the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets.
Both teams are young and inexperienced. The Nuggets and Lakers may not have the poitential and raw talent that the Sonics and Blazers have, but both teams have more experience which is valuable late in the season when teams are making a playoff push. Young teams also get way too streak, and one bad stretch will likely derail fragile young teams like the Sonics or Blazers.
I'm not saying that it is impossible for either team to make the playoffs, but I feel that the chances are low.
