Ashley Young has finally left Watford, joining Aston Villa in a deal worth £9.65 million. The price is a record fee for both clubs and puts enormous pressure on the 21 year old as he looks to establish himself in the Villa side and push his way into Steve McLarens England squad for the 2008 European Championships.
Young paid tribute to the Watford fans in an interview with the clubs official website before he left. The player, who has been at the club since the age of 10, will be remembered at Vicarage Road for the way he burst into the team, scoring on his debut and progressed to become an integral part of the promotion winning side last year as he weighed in with 15 goals.
Hornets fans will be hoping Ashley will not be the last of the Young family to have such an impact on the first team, his younger brother Lewis, only recently turned 17 is already developing into a quality player for the under 18s and will be pushing for a spot in the reserves soon.
