Born on September 30, 1967 in Bajos de Haina, Distrito Nacional (Dominican Republic), Yorkis Perez (Yorkis Miguel Vargas Perez) played for the Chicago Cubs, Florida Marlins, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 9 year career. Perez broke into the bigs on September 30, 1991 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 3.81 ERA in 52 innings pitched in 1998, his rookie year.
