Steroids have been all over the media recently. By now we all know the problems that MLB has faced because of Bud Selig’s willingness to ignore the elephant in the corner. Well last night fans of sports entertainment had their world rocked as superstar Chris Benoit was found dead along with the bodies of his wife and son. While the investigation in this case is still unfolding, it does appear to be a strong possibility that steroids played a role in this murder suicide.
Now I know that sports entertainment and baseball have little in common, hell sports entertainment and pretty much every sport have little in common. The one common thread is they all have athletes who are wanted to be the best at what they do. They want to hit the ball farther, jump higher, and look better than anyone else around them. Too often now day’s athletes are looking to find those advancements in a bottle rather than in the weight room and through hard work.
The point of all this is, don’ thinks that steroids are something relegated to the back allies, and bad professional wrestling associations. They are a real problem, and they are affecting children and professional athletes alike. Think about that next time one of your kids asks you why their favorite athlete is dead. So remember they are a deal and they are a growing problem in this country that needs to be addressed.
