Yank Robinson (William H. Robinson) was born on September 19, 1859 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on August 24, 1882 for the Detroit Wolverines. In 1884, his rookie year, he hit .267 with 2 home runs and 0 RBI. Robinson played for the Detroit Wolverines, Baltimore Unions, St. Louis Browns, Pittsburgh Burghers, Cincinnati Porkers and Washington Senators over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that Yank Robinson's best season was 1887, when he stole 75 bases, hit for a .305 average and knocked in 74 runs.
