Ya love A-Rod now, don't you???

Forgive me if this article borders on gloating.  But I'm going to test that fine line.  For the past couple of years, I've had to sit back and watch A-Rod catch more crap than 30 sanitation trucks.  He caught it left, right, forward, backward and sideways from all angles of the media.  He even caught crap from Jason Giambi in Sports Illustrated, who as we know has to so much right to be talking with his fine use of the needle and all.  I've had to sit and listen to numerous Yankee fans calling up WFAN Radio trying to come up with the best possible way to trade A-Rod at the trade deadline.     He was put under the biggest microscope and the biggest lens the moment he dawned a Yankees uniform.   I would not be so far off to say that there were some Yankee fans that looked forward to him and even enjoyed him struggling just so they can boo and pile on the hate just a little deeper.

Well, forgive me but I'm going to enjoy the man who's off to the fastest start to begin a season and as far as career stats go one of the fastest starts ever.    I'm going to sit back, grab a Smirnoff Ice and toast to the man who has brought dead silence to his critics in the New York media and abroad.  The man who will be 16 HRs away from joining the  500 HR club before even turning 32 years of age and who will be in the HR record picture before you can say "Thank God Sanjaya is gone!!!!"

But I'm guess I'm giving too much love for the Two-time MVP, two time Gold Glove Winner and Silver Slugger Award winner, right?

Too bad.

I'm not naive enough to believe that there wont be any more Hatorade towards A-Rod once he does hit a rocky road.   Let's be honest:   They're waiting in the wings itching at the next chance to call him an expletive deleted.

Right now, they'll just have to take a number and wait on line because A-Rod requires a fire hydrant right now to contain his momentum.  He's playing with a vengeance and a chip on his shoulder despite putting together an unbelieveable body of work in his 13 years.

A-Rod has been made to be the equivalent of Sanjaya too long in Yankee Nation.

Little did they know he's been Melinda Doolittle all along.

Smirnoff Ice? Yech! Give me a Mike's any day. ARod is playing for his next contract, and everyone knows it. Including Yankee fans. They're not cheering because of what he is doing, they're cheering because they know with every hit, with every ribbie, and with every homer, he is one step closer to being an ex-Yankee.

and if he IS playing for a new contract, WHO is going to have enough $$$ to pay him after an 80 HR MVP season?

Oh yeah.... ONLY the New York Yankees

Waaahh Wah, thanks for playing!

So what. It happens on every team. Player doesn't live up to expectations, he gets booed. If he plays well, he gets cheered.

Except for ARod did play well and still got booed. Have the Yankees ever booed Jeter for going into a slump?

To answer your question, an emphatic "No". Wait until September and October - when his team needs him the most. IT'S ONLY APRIL FOR GOD'S SAKE!!! Chris Shelton did this last year. Where is he now?

I think he let the unnecessary criticism get him down last year a lot of times. Now he's playing carefree.

Go ahead and gloat Dre-lo and I'll gloat with you. I was the one who said last October to A-Rod's critics "You are NOT allowed to cheer for him when he does well." Of course, eventually he'll cool off and come back closer to earth and Yankee fans will be all over him for not hitting 130 HRs this season...

Every Yankee fan wants A-rod to do well, a lot of Yankees have been booed over the years including Jeter. To not root for your own players would be un-American, ya know kinda like politicians who root against America so that their party can gain control/advantage. A-rod is a great player, everyone knows that, let's see how he does in September and October. I for one, hope he comes through, he deserves it. He went through a lot in NY and now has hit the point where he seems like he is more relaxed. You need thick skin to play and perform well in NY, it looks like A-rod has finally figured it out. Good for him and Great for the Yankees!!!

Bronxy, I love ya, but do you really want me to go pull all of the "TRADE A-Rod", "A-Rod is done", "A-Rod is not a true Yankee", "I hate A-Rod I wish he wasn't a Yankee", "A-Rod sucks goat ass" and similar comments over the past months from self-proclaimed Yankee fans? They never pulled that sh!t with Jeter...

Now that "A-Rots"/"A-Holes" is doing great, you suddenly "hope he comes through, he deserves it"? Flip-flop much, Bronxie?

Never flip-flop wylie? I love the Yankees and want them to win. Every player that doesn't perform in NY gets booed, everyone. Jeter has been booed, I know cause I have been going to games for years. Randy Johnson has also been booed and he is a HoF. Clemens has been booed, he too is a HoF. Just because A-rod is a great player does not mean he won't be booed. In NY you have to perform up to expectations especially in the clutch. You also have to be able to handle the press, that's part of playing in NY.

And yes, again, I want every Yankee to do well, not just A-rod. And if A-rod can take all the criticism and now perform well in NY, then of course he deserves all the accolades. I hope he breaks the single season HR record of 61 (steroid-free). I hope he gets another Gold Glove at third. I hope he wins the batting title. I hope he wins AL MVP. I hope he is the MVP of the World Series.

As long as you're wearing pinstripes, I'm rooting for you...not too hard to understand.
