[edit] Biography

Xavier Nady (Xavier Clifford Nady) was born on November 14, 1978 in Salinas, California. He made his Major League debut on September 30, 2000 for the San Diego Padres. In 2003, his rookie year, he hit .267 with 9 home runs and 39 RBI. Nady played for the San Diego Padres, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets over the course of his 4 year career.

Most people believe that Xavier Nady's best season was 2006, when he slugged 17 home runs, hit for a .280 average and knocked in 63 runs.

[edit] Scouting Report

Nady is a great mistake hitter -- if you hang a curve ball or if he's looking dead-red and you throw the heat down the pipe (how's that for a mixed metaphor!), forget it, 3 run homer. But... you'll lock him up on a breaking ball if he's thinking change up, and he'll chase the high strike, etc. etc. Lefties eat him up. Defensively he's a mess, too.

He's probably best used in a platoon, either in a corner OF position or if need be, at 1B. With a RHP starting, stick him in RF and take him out in the late innings for a left-handed hitting defensive replacement. With a LHP starting, he's a solid RH option off the bench.
