Everybody knew it would only be a matter of time before this quarterback midget was blowing up the airwaves. It started last week, but thanks to Donovan McNabb "Oh, please feel sorry for me because I’m a black quarterback sound bite" the Gross Man took a back seat. However, here it is three games into the season and the top of his play is the choice of conversation… And to think we all thought the Eagles throwbacks were God awful! Sad thing is, not even those can save him this week.
Alright, we knew this was just a formality and really did expect this… But week three? Come on, I thought quarterbacks were supposed to progress behind center? Seems as if Tony Romo has! The one thing that makes my ears bleed, (as a lot of shit does with this guy) is the fact that everybody and their mothers want to give him the benefit of the doubt by saying, "oh, he’s still a young quarterback." Okay, everybody can stick those comments up their ass! Jimmy Clausen is a young quarterback… And for Wrecks to be doing the dumbass shit that we expect from 19-year olds is at this point inexcusable at this point in his career! It’s not just from last night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys… Where the defense got mauled too, it’s a collection of the first three games! (Please see that all impressive 1 touchdown pass on the season… To an offensive lineman no less!!) Simply Awesome!
Thing is, the progress that everybody keeps waiting to see, is, well, let’s just say the New England Patriots have a better chance of going 16-0 than seeing progress out of number eight! Hell, I’ll even jump off my balcony out back, (it’s four floors up) and say that Notre Dame has a better chance of beating USC than Wrecks has of showing progress! It’s like Charlie Weis always keeps hitting his dead horse with, "You are what you are!" And the Gross one is a very bad quarterback!! Although the question I have is this… Remember the first month of the season last year, (boy, far cry from this one) when he was actually one of the ones mentioned early on as a possible league MVP candidate. Yeah, remember that? Seems like a dream, doesn’t it? Well that dream has quickly turned into a reoccurring nightmare in Chicago!
I’m just waiting for Lovie Smith "The awesome quote machine" to come out with… "We’re 13-3 with Wrecks as our quarterback!" Oh, I’m sorry… That was last year! Wishful thinking on my part… Fact is Lovie, you’re 1-2 "With Wrecks as your quarterback!" And from my calculations weren’t you 13-3 last year, hmmm? I’m all for game management, but it’s not a good thing when the defense has a sub par night as they did last night, as they did in the Super Bowl, knowing full well that the one behind center can in no way lead them to victory! Why, every time the midget goes back to pass everybody holds their collective breaths (including teammates & coaches) to see what’s going to happen next! With any facsimile of a quarterback in San Diego, hell the bears might be 2-1… Again wishful thinking!
Look, is Brian Greise the answer? Probably not… Only acting as a Band-Aid. Although with a quarterback stable of Huey, Duey, & Louie, well he’s the next one in line for a shot! Because the shit that Huey has shown… Well, that shit ain’t working! The hogwash last year coming out of the Bears camp was that everybody had Wrecks back, where did all that love go? Why, he did lead you guys to Super Bowl XLI…Yeah, and I’m nailing a Playboy Playmate too! Which brings up the question, if the Bears knew they had Donald Duck’s siblings as their QB’s, um, why not sign somebody in free agency? David Carr, Byron Leftwich, Trent Green, (scrambled eggs and all) just to name a few. Might’ve been a good idea to sign one, don’t ya think? Just a thought!
Fact is, this tiresome act has grown, well, tiresome amongst the Bears themselves! Tired of lying to the outside world… Tired of lying to themselves as well! Yes, everybody in the Chicagoland is tired of number eight! Nobody has confidence in this cat anymore… His confidence has even taken a hit! The pinnacle for him was reached last year by getting to the Super Bowl! And given this is Wrecks last year under contract, it’s safe to say he’s not helping his cause for a renewal… Not just in Chicago, but all around the league as well! At least, not from a starters perspective!
Although should this be any surprise to us… This being the quarterback situation in Chicago? No, not really… Why it’s par for the course of the trend of bad quarterbacks getting shipped in and out of the Windy City! Grossman is just upholding the tradition that everybody has become accustomed too! Hmm, I wonder if Jim McMahon still has something left in the tank? And to think Donovan McNabb thinks he has it bad!
