The question bares asking and is a legitimate one at that! Like it or not, the guy’s one of the must beloved players in the league. Or should I say was one before he began imitating younger brother Marcus drawing negative publicity to himself and now with this whole dog fighting scandal. Why just two years ago his number seven was No. 2 among NFL players in jersey sales. Since then however, Vick has tumbled to 33rd this year, according to Neil Schwartz, director of marketing for SportScanInfo, which tracks sporting goods sales. And as Juvenile told us, "Drop it Likes it’s Hot"! No doubt this falling trend in sales should continue faster then Mike Tyson-Peter McNealy!
"I just think it's going to be really hard for Michael to somehow repair his public image unless these charges are totally false," Schwartz said. While that maybe, as a parent…Would you let your child wear a Michael Vick jersey? If they had one of course…I don’t see a parent in their right mind going out and purchasing one any time in the near future for their little ankle biter even though their on "Fire Sale Prices"! See, kids are a funny breed. They see their favorite athletes on the boob tube playing a game…Falling in love with there talents in the athletic venue like so many of us. Problem being, they know right from wrong…Just they may not know the entire extent of the meaning. Wearing a Michael Vick jersey at this point in time is basically not in good taste. And kids, not all, but some don’t, can’t, and won’t understand all the evil that dog fighting brings. To most this is uncomprehensible…All they want to do is to show everybody that Michael Vick is his/her favorite player.
In this particular instance it’s solely up to the parent(s) discretion on whether or not their child dawns an Atlanta Falcons number seven jersey. I think any parent in their right mind would be opposed to it, but one can never tell. When Kobe Bryant was accused of spicing up the state of Colorado faces charges of rape…Yeah, his endorsement deals were shot like Vick’s, but somehow his jersey sales remained on an even kiel and has since recovered tremendously by topping the NBA jerseys sales charts. In KB’s case all that was proven that he cheated on his wife. Sure, it’s not the right thing to do…Not how to show your younger fan base how to act, but compared to Vick’s situation, Kobe was really just messing around, (no pun intended).
We’ve all seen first hand what kind of statements jerseys make…Isn’t that the main reason why we wear the in the first place? Remember the kid who got scrutinized by his own teacher for wearing a Jake Plummer Denver Broncos jersey at school. Having to sit on the floor, be the laughing stock of the class for that day while playing a game of dodgeball as fellow classmates threw paper at him. Wow, I never knew Plummer could have that much of an effect on people? Point is, that was simply a teacher who was a Pittsburgh Stealer fan, who didn’t like the Broncos…And that happened.
Now just imagine a child wearing a Michael Vick jersey after committing a heinous, nauseated, despicable crime…Think of all the scrutiny, repercussions and fall outs this has the potential of bringing. Depending on how old the child is and if he’s fully able to understand the perameters of the charges, I can’t foresee in anyway how this is at all making a positive statement. However, if the child is too young and isn’t fully able comprehend what’s going on with Vick then it reflects back to the parents. Either way, the message that society will be taken from a Vick jersey dawner in one way or another is the same. And that’s you’re supporting dog fighting! I wonder if Emmitt Smith or his kids have any Vick jerseys and if they’ll be wearing them?
So what to do with all those Red, White, & Black numbers seven held hostages in closets around the country? Allow me to make suggestion…You can always put it to good use by wiping a dogs ass!

10 points to anyone who can find a pic of a Rae Carruth..
