[edit] Biography

Born on April 15, 1940 in Ewing, Kentucky, Woodie Fryman (Woodrow Thompson Fryman) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, Detroit Tigers, Montreal Expos, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 18 year career. Fryman broke into the bigs on April 15, 1966 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 3.81 ERA in 181.2 innings pitched in 1966, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Woodie Fryman's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1980, when he posted a 2.25 ERA, notched 17 saves and struck out 59 batters. However, others believe that it was 1968, when he posted a 2.78 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 151 batters.
