This was by far the best game of the season. The Riders and Bombers traded the lead all game long. Now for the recap from cfl.ca.
Kerry Joseph's touchdown run in the final seconds of the Labour Day Classic lifted the Saskatchewan Roughriders over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 31-26.
In the nail-biter for the sold-out crowd of 28,800, the 'Riders were down 26-24 until their final drive in the fourth quarter, when seven plays in Joseph made the run to the finish.
The Roughriders had the first major of the game when Kerry Joseph threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Matt Dominguez, who fended off defenders with a two-hand push and made it to the end zone. The play came after a 45-yard gain because of a Davin Bush pass interference penalty.
The Bombers quickly answered with a touchdown drive finished off by a pass from Kevin Glenn to Terrence Edwards.
The Roughriders tried for another touchdown in the second quarter after a 12-play drive, but came up short on the one-yard line.
The Bombers then made sure to cross the finish line, completing a 109-yard touchdown drive with a pass from Glenn to Derek Armstrong.
A field goal each by Luca Congi and Rob Pikula put the Bombers up 18-10 at the half.
Roughriders receiver Mike Washington brought the team and the sold-out crowd back to life in the second half with his first career touchdown, which came just after his 51-yard catch from Joseph.
Earlier this season, Washington spent three games on the disabled list with an irregular heartbeat.
Armstrong scored again in the third, following up his own 52-yard catch from Glenn.
In the last minutes of the third quarter, Luca Congi made a 50-yard field goal to bring the 'Riders within a point.
His next attempt, a go-ahead kick for 38 yards in the last minutes of the fourth quarter came up short, but wasn't needed after Joseph's touchdown run for the win.
