The first quarter was a low scoring affair. Edmonton drove the ball well on it's first possession but was halted on the Winnipeg 44-yard line. The ensuing punt was unreturnable from the end zone, giving the home team Eskimos an early 1 point lead.
Winnipeg also moved the ball well, but was also stopped short ending the drive on the Edmonton 40. The Bombers took the lead on a 47-yard field goal from kicker Troy Westwood. The only other scoring in the first quarter took place on a Westwood punt that resulted in a single. Winnipeg 4 - Edmonton 1.
The scoring was marginally better in the second quarter. With first, Winnipeg scoring a 23-yard field goal, then Edmonton scoring a 33-yard field goal of their own. At the half, Winnipeg 7 - Edmonton 4.
The Winnipeg offense finally showed some life in the third quarter with a 45-yard pass from Kevin Glenn to Stegall. The Bombers score several plays later on a 1-yard touchdown run by Glenn. The following kickoff was unreturnable and resulted in a single for the Bombers.
Ricky Ray and the Edmonton offense also came out in the second half looking much better. The Ecks scored a reply touchdown on the following series, finishing off the drive on a 32-yard pass to wide receiver Jason Tucker.
Winnipeg was able to move the ball again on it's next series. But was halted again in Edmonton territory. The resulting Westwood punt scored another single for the Bombers. At the end of the third quarter, Winnipeg 16 - Edmonton 11.
Edmonton pushed the ball deep into Winnipeg territory and had the ball at first-and-goal from the Winnipeg 3, but was unable to get the major. Instead, settling for a Sean Fleming 9-yard field goal. Winnipeg came back with a field goal of their own, this time from 12 yards.
The two teams then exchanged turnovers. An interception of Edmonton's Ray and a fumble by Winnipeg's Glenn. This fumble recovery led to the Ray touchdown with 0:15 seconds left on the clock.
Final stat leaders Winnipeg. QB Kevin Glenn was 20 of 35 for 375 yards with one touchdown and one interception. RB Charles Roberts had 10 rushes for 33 yards. SB Milt Stegall had 10 receptions for 254 yards and one touchdown. K Troy Westwood was 3/4 on field goals and 1/1 on extra points.
Final stat leaders Edmonton. QB Ricky Ray was 26 of 38 for 342 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 pick. RB Troy Davis had 10 rushes for 58 yards. WR Ed Hervey had 6 receptions for 93 yards and 0 touchdowns. K Sean Fleming was 2/2 on field goals and 1/1 on extra points.
