Born on July 18, 1925 in San Francisco, California, Windy McCall (John William McCall) played for the Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Giants over the course of his 7 year career. McCall broke into the bigs on April 25, 1948 with the Boston Red Sox, and put up a 3.25 ERA in 61 innings pitched in 1954, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Windy McCall's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1955, when he posted a 3.69 ERA and struck out 50 batters. However, others believe that it was 1956, when he posted a 3.61 ERA.
