Born on September 17, 1874 in St. Louis, Missouri, Willie Sudhoff (John William Sudhoff) played for the St. Louis Perfectos, Cleveland Spiders, St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Browns and Washington Senators over the course of his 10 year career. Sudhoff broke into the bigs on August 20, 1897 with the St. Louis Perfectos, and put up a 4.47 ERA in 92.2 innings pitched in 1897, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Willie Sudhoff's best season was 1903, when he posted a 2.27 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 104 batters.
