Born on April 4, 1916 in Williamsburg, Kansas, Willie Ramsdell (James Willard Ramsdell) played for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 5 year career. Ramsdell broke into the bigs on September 24, 1947 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and put up a 5.19 ERA in 50.1 innings pitched in 1948, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Willie Ramsdell's best season was 1951, when he posted a 4.04 ERA and struck out 88 batters.
