Williams Finishes Regular Season with Decent Numbers

12
Vote

In an injury plagued season for the suspended Miami Dolphins star, Ricky Williams has finished eighth among CFL rushers. Ricky's receiving marks were well below the elite numbers, but he made the catches when it was asked of him.

The Miami star has expressed interest in returning to the CFL when his contract expires in the NFL.

His final regular season stats in rushing were:

  • Attempts 109
  • Yards 526
  • Average 4.8
  • Touchdowns 2
  • Fumbles 1

By way of comparison, the league leader was Winnipeg's Charles Roberts with the following numbers:

  • Attempts 303
  • Yards 1609
  • Average 5.3
  • Touchdowns 10
  • Fumbles 5

Ricky's final receiving numbers were:

  • Receptions 19
  • Yards 127
  • Average 6.7
  • Longest 18
  • Touchdowns 0

The league leader in receiving was BC's Geroy Simon with the following stats:

  • Receptions 105
  • Yards 1856
  • Average 17.7
  • Longest 92
  • Touchdowns 15

The CFL season is based on an 18 game schedule. Ricky played in 12 games.

Cool. Thanks. 109 carries over 12 games is... uh... not all that impressive. I wonder how Ricky will handle the stress of a 20 carry/game, 16 game schedule in the NFL. (Beyond the obvious way, of course.)

For a league that is heavy on the passing game, his numbers aren't that bad.

Yeah, that's true. I thought about that but figured 8-10 carries/game was still on the low site. What kind of RBs do you typically see in the CFL? I'd suspect there'd be a lot of Brian Westbrook types, especially due to the three-down system (a lot more "third"/"second" and longs).

Winnipeg's Charles Roberts is the top RB (because Winnipeg is a running team). His stats are above.
