Bill Phillips (William B. Phillips) was born on April , 1857 in St. John, New Brunswick (Canada). He made his Major League debut on May 1, 1879 for the Cleveland Spiders. In 1879, his rookie year, he hit .271 with 0 home runs and 29 RBI. Phillips played for the Cleveland Spiders, Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers and Kansas City Cowboys over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that Bill Phillips's best season was 1887, when he knocked in 101 runs.
