USC has opened negotiations with the Rose Bowl for a possible lease to start playing its home football games there after negotiations with the LA Coliseum broke down. The Coliseum, USC's home for 80 years, is badly in need of repair and USC has offered $100 million towards renovation but only if it got the right to operate the Coliseum under a new lease. The Trojans lease expires at the end of the season this Saturday. If the Trojans move to the Rose Bowl, that could make it easier for a NFL team to move to the Coliseum, a site preferred by LA officials but, currently, not the NFL. An empty Coliseum may change their mind making renovation plans and NFL operation easier.
