Will Everybody Please Get Off the Michelle Wie Bandwagon?

Saw today that Michelle Wie fired her caddy after another one of her poor performance on the links. Seems to me that this is the golf equivalent of baseball's firing the manager after the team goes on an extended schneid; it's not practical to can the players, so the manager has to go. Michelle Wie certainly couldn't fire herself, so the caddy goes. Perhaps it's time for Michelle Wie to realize that she may have tons of ability and potential, but it's all for waste if she cannot mature and acheive the mental toughness that is necessary to truly be great. Michelle Wie has had "success" so far, finishing in the Top 5 on more than one occasion, but her comments afterwards have been less than stellar. Instead of owning up to mistakes and soldiering on, she has given an excuse for her errors, not a reason. Most glaringly has been her whining after receiving penalties for rules violations. There has been the "dehydration incident" during the men's PGA Tour John Deere Classic. She was playing poorly prior to that day, and had she not had so many immature moments in her past, nobody would have questioned the legitimacy of the "affliction". Not to forget is the "Flies Incident" in which swarming flies affected a tee shot. Her lack of maturity and mental toughness showed when she was unable to shake off the poor shot and responded by playing awful over the remaining holes.
Now, of course she's only 16, but as the saying goes, age ain't nothin' but a number. If she's willing to compete on the top level, she or her supporters cannot use that as an excuse. So until Michelle Wie matures and acquires mental toughness, I don't want to hear about her. Until she she wins, she won't live up to the hype. It's time to get off the bandwagon and watch from afar; that way if she wrecks, you don't get hurt.
