Wilfred Smith (Wilfred Russell Smith) was born on April 7, 1899 in Milroy, Indiana. After going to high school at Huntington (IN), Smith attended Depauw University. Smith made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Muncie Flyers. He played in the APFA for 2 years, playing for the Muncie Flyers the entire time. Smith also played in the NFL for 4 years, playing for the Chicago Cardinals, Louisville Brecks and Hammond Pros over the course of his 4 year NFL career.
