Why soccer hasn't caught on in the USA

The world loves soccer, people play it all over the world and the World Cup has even stopped civil wars, but we hardly care in America. Why should we? We have Major League Baseball, the NBA, the NFL, and the NHL. All of these are great and have great athletes. America loves sports, but not soccer, why? you might ask, it's because it is too slow paced. A few days ago when watching a bit of the NHL finals I made the connection that hockey is the faster and more aggresive version of soccer, and people love it. With soccer there are only a few goals a game and most of the time the ball isn't even near the goal. 2 to 1 is a perfectly reasonable score in soccer, but Americans just get bored in the time between. If soccer was faster paced, and more aggresive, it could catch on much faster.
