Why Would Pete Carroll Want to Leave USC?

by user LastRow

Ever want to take a vacation, to let’s say Costa Rica? Several have wanted to…Many have indeed, although I’ll be completely honest here, the thought of vacation followed by Costa Rica has never once entered my pee picking brain. Although, what the hell do I know anyway, I’m just a season ticket holder of the LastRow. A vacation for me would be to upgrade my season tickets. Nevertheless, from what I hear Costa Rica is a beautiful place…The beautiful scenery, the laid back atmosphere, drinking strawberry daiquiris lounging poolside, what’s there not to like about that plush living…If you ain’t living large, you ain’t living, right? Also when one’s vacation in this paradise, he or she whichever the case might be never knows whom they might bump into so unexpectedly.

Seems as though Wayne Huizenga and Pete Carroll share the same travel agent…I mean they must. How else would one explain them bumping into each other in the same foreign country. Out of all the countries in the world, these two shared the same travel itinerary…Although it must be noted that Big Baller Wayne took his own private jet, while Petey had to settle for first class on a commercial fight…At least I hope USC boosters could splurge for first class, but who knows? Now this little “vacation” wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact that Huizenga is trying to lure Carroll into flying the SOCAL coupe for South Beach now, would it?

Let’s see, Pete Carroll… He’s led the USC Trojans to a fifth consecutive Bowl Championship Series appearance this season and beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl. He's 65-12 in six seasons at Southern California…. With back-to-back National Championships and within seconds of a third. Has turned USC into the most dominant college football program in the country since arriving in Los Angeles. Can have the pick of the litter of senior high school Bluechipers all across the nation to come play for him at his top program in the country. In total control of everything…Who is living like a Rock/Movie Star in SOCAL…And for a football coach, that’s saying a whole hell of a lot. If things continue as they are, will arguably become the first football coach or for that matter the first coach period to have his own star on Hollywood Blvd. In one of the biggest media markets around the world and yet don’t have to share the football spotlight with an NFL team…Because in Los Angeles, you’re it. It doesn’t get any better than this…You have all this, and yet, the whole prospect doesn’t even come into play. Yes, Pete Carroll is living a dream, in what bigger place to dream than in the Los Angeles area! Oh yeah, let’s not forget Carroll is one of the highest-paid coaches in college too. With all this, so then why would he want to turn it all into come back to the NFL?

In the 1990s, Carroll coached the New York Jets for one season and the New England Patriots for three before being fired. As recently as last week, he denied rumors he wanted to return to the pros, but than again Nick Saban and Bobby Petrino denied rumors about leaving as well, so take that for what it’s worth…Jack sh-t! No doubt if the 55-year-old Carroll is interested in the Dolphins job, he would become the front-runner….Although Carroll’s first go around in the NFL was mediocre to say the least. So really, should he be the front runner? That’s a tough one to figure out…However if Bobby Petrino was to die for in the minds of the Atlanta Falcons, then surely Pete is! Unfortunately for Wayne Huizenga and the Dolphins they went down this road two years ago when they courted Nick Saban. A well-established collegiate coach doesn’t mean the same in the NFL. Saban’s short stay in South Beach had him winding up posting two less than stellar seasons with the floundering fish before deciding to jump back into the SEC. Not saying Carroll would be in the same sinking ship, but why leave a good thing to find out “your heart’s in the college ranks,” am I right Nicky boy.

Ironically both the Miami Dolphins along with Pete Carroll can both learn from the Nick Saban debacle…Saban left the good thing he had cooking at LSU to jump to the pros and look at how that turned out. Two years later, he’s back almost where he started. Now saying the same would happen in Pete’s case, however the risks outweigh the rewards. And for the Miami Dolphins, hasn’t this organization been down this road before….Um, let’s say two years ago. Yeah, how that'd work out for everybody involved? It’s been almost a week now since Nick flew the coupe…You can stop all the shedding of tears any time now!

The best way I can put it is this…The dancer at the local strip club the you’ve developed some kind of rapport with, you know, the one that knows what you like & what you desire every time she brushes her body up against yours as she tries so desperately to take your money. Sometimes you go into that same strip club looking for something new, while knowing all full well that nothing can compare with Candy,, but still you want a new flavor. By the time we realize we don’t care for that flavor, well it’s too late. Candy’s standing in front of you butt-ass naked looking to play, although you’re the dumbass that’s out of money…GOSH, I hate it when that happens! So Pete, do yourself a flavor, stick with the “Candy” that you seemingly prefer! You’re better off in the long run partying like a rock/movie star…And besides, you’ll keep enjoying Costa Rica!

Vote in LastRowSports.com Pick’em Poll this week which asks about “Cowboys Gaffes?” This is an interesting one considering what Tony Bobble did in Seattle! To find out you're choices you have to go to the home page and find out…You’ll be glad you did! Let’s just say voting in this poll is a whole heck of a lot easier than giving a cat a bath! NOTE: This isn’t a scientific poll, however by not voting in this non-scientific poll we’ll assume that you would rather give a cat a bath!

I have a feeling that he will stay at USC.

I hope so too. He represents college football and USC well.

He has it too good there. Coaching USC is much better than coaching an NFL team.

Ego, Ego, Ego. That is why Carrol will leave USC one day. Will it be now, unlikely. But he will go for the money. His success in the NFL will not be good, but at least, he will have the money to have a rich retirement.

Carroll gets paid near three million per year, lives in LA, has 25 first round draft picks, has total control, wins games, and doesn't have to listen to an annoying owner (that means you Jerry Jones). Wonder why he says he is staying at USC.
