[1]  What's the reason for this?, The New York Mets needed to beat the Philadelphia Phillies. Playing them at Shea Stadium, was going to help.

Getting swept by the Phillies doesn't help. That team wants the National League East, and the Mets are not competing.

Losing sixth straight games against the Phillies, hurts. Going into another slump, that isn't an option. It's almost playoff time, a 100 percent effort has to be given.

Leading the National League East isn't hard, but the Mets are soft in some points.

Facing the second leading team in the division, shouldn't be a problem. The Mets need to take it serious. If the Phillies make the playoffs, the Mets are in trouble.

In the top of the second, the game began. Jimmy Rollin made it to first, because of Jose Reyes throwing error. Aaron Rowand and Carlos Ruiz scored. The Phillies lead 2-0.

Top of the third. Wes Helms hit a sacrifice fly, and Pat Burrell scored. The Phillies lead 3-0.

In the bottom, Luis Castillo grounded into fielders choice. Endy Chavez scored, to give the Mets a run 3-1.

Chase Utley doubled to left, in the top of the fourth. Jimmy Rollins scored, 4-1.

Bottom of the fourth, Paul La Duca hit a sacrifice fly. Carlos Beltran scored, 4-2.

Jimmy Rollins doubled to deep right, in the fifth inning. Jason Werth scored, the Phillies lead 5-2.

Bottom of the fifth, Carlos Beltran homered to deep center. Castillo and Reyes scored, and the game was tied 5-5.

The Phillies didn't stay tied for long. Top of the sixth, Werth walk and Burrell scored. Rollins went to third, and Rowand to second. Gregg Dobbs homered to right field, Rowand, Werth, and Ryan Howard scored. The score was 10-5.

Bottom of the seventh, David Wright homered to deep right. But the Mets lost 10-6.

The Phillies are 3 1/2 games back, the Mets need to pull away. Mets aways found away, but the Phillies creep back. This happens to the Phillies every year, "Mets don't worry."

But the Mets still can't beat the Phillies. "Why?"

when the Phillies are on they are one of the tougher teams in the league. But they are so inconsistent...
