Whoa... what a game!

[Author's Note: This was originally posted on my blog: Football Crack - and no, that was not a shameless whore plug - I just needed to explain why I refer to 'readers' and make fun of the fact that I only have like... three of them]

This is supposed to be an unbiased football blog, and I apologize if I offend every single fan outside of New England by posting this.

But that game was awesome. There is no doubt in my mind that the Patriots will finish the season 16-0. Notice I didn't say 19-0 because as I know from last year's second half meltdown against the Colts, anything can happen in the playoffs.

With that said, next weeks game against the Steelers is huge. In my opinion it is the last big game in the Patriots quest for an undefeated season. I will be posting a massive preview with a post per day, covering different aspects of the game starting on Wednesday. So all nine of my readers, stay tuned!

The Ravens played a great game and they redeemed themselves in my mind after that anemic performance against the Steelers a few weeks back. This is the NFL, folks. Just because a team is a couple of games below .500 doesn't mean there going to get the stuffing kicked out of them every week. The penalties at the end of the game though... that was unacceptable. Thankfully, I'm not a Ravens fan because I would be starting a petition to get Bart Scott thrown off the team. That's just me, though.

Sit back and enjoy boys and girls. History is being made right before our very eyes. And once again, I apologize if most of my readers hate the Patriots and wish for me to remain unbiased.

You didn't offend me! Of course I'm a Patriots fan, though. I think they'll lose next week, though.

I've been saying since they were on the cover of SI, I hope they lose to the Dolphins or Jets. Although the announcer tonight said, in reference to the Dolphins game, "That'll be like, 100 to nothin."

That was a crazy finish. I'm glad I only tuned in for the last quarter. Actually, I turned it on around 1:30 so I saw the whole last Pats drive. Talk about luck...

Don't see Pittsburgh going to Foxboro and winning. They are a poor road team. They lost to the Jets recently.

Could come down to if the Giants need a win in Week 17. If they don't they would be foolish to risk injury to an already depleted running back core or Eli Manning with a game a week later across the country in Seattle or all the way to the south in Tampa.

The Giants can run the ball effectively and put pressure on Brady, thank goodness for Eil! The Steelers will put up a fight, but they have been playing like crap recently and I don't expect that to change, they'll keep it close but screw it up. How many times did Parker fumble sunday night? Half that number and he'll cost them against the Pats.

I agree that they will go undefeated regular season. It just seems that every break ,every call, and even missplaced time-outs go in their favor. The stars are lined up for them.I'm a Giants fan and also have to agree with JuTMSY4., we are running out of guys to run the ball. You can't beat the Pats with your 4th string.

Are you kidding me? Show me a bad call that went their way last night.

You could actually show me a call, or at least tell me about one. But I guess clicking the little thumbs down is easier.

Raw, the holding call in the last drive was questionable. There is a little holding on every play, but the refs chose to call that one. I'm not making excuses for the Ravens, but I gotta call it like I see it.

I thought it was holding. Then again, holding is almost always an opinion call. One can make arguments for it to be called holding, but on could also argue for there to be no call.

With the way the Refs called that game I don't see the Patriots losing. The pass interference on Rolle (When Moss ran him over) was a joke and the defensive holding to give the Patriots a 1st down when the game was over was a phantom call. The Refs almost made up for it when they let Mason tackle Samuel on the last play of the game. Terrible Terrible job.

I agree that the refs made some game changing calls, but the solution is to not leave it up to the refs, if bowler doesn't throw that interception or the Ravens get a key first down in the fourth then those penalties don't even happen or are at least a non-factor. The refs are part of the game too.

Oh, I agree. The Ravens couldn't get a first down when they needed to and gave the Patriots chances. At the same time, those two calls I highlightes came at crucial moments which means they get put under a microscope.

The holding call was two players hand fighting. In no way did the defender impede the receiver. I thought it was a terrible call to make with the game on the line. A referee in that situation has to call when he sees, and not what he thinks he sees.

Ignore the refs, why did Rex Ryan call timeout? If your defense has stopped them most of the game, why even bother to let them get set, and only rush 3 afterwards? Ludicrous!

Ryan called the time out because he didn't think he had the right defense. That sequence was amazing. Stop Brady on 4th down only to see there was a timeout. False start on Patriots making it 4th and 6. No one open and Brady scrambles for the 1st down.

As I said above, you have to beat the refs too, but it burns me up when the refs don't just let players play the game. That hold did not affect the game, but the ref sure did, in the fourth quarter none the less.

MJD, grow up and give the Patriots some credit. The only bad calls were a few non-calls made early in the game that you and all the other haters are too blind to have noticed. Blame the refs, blame the cameras, concoct some sort of NFL-wide conspiracy theory, just never give credit to a 12-0 team for being 12-0, is that your plan?

You are the eternal apologist. You never see the game through honest eyes. Srom week 1 when you defended and excused the team for cheating until today you see the game as a fan of the Patriots instead of as an honest observer.

Here is some food for thought.

MJD, instead of actually addressing any of my points, you instantly dismiss my opinion because I'm a Patriots fan.

I guess if I were in your position, I'd do the same. If I had put in so much effort to belittle and dismiss a team's accomplishments, I wouldn't accept any argument that would destroy my little fantasy world either.

When you're ready, I'll be willing to discuss facts.

That guy is wacked. He was considering putting the pats down if they lost? When both teams would be 11-1, but the Pats had beaten the Cowboys in the head-to-head matchup? THis is the NFL, not the BCS

Gosh, I must have missed those facts.

Was this the "fact" you wanted me to address?

"MJD, grow up and give the Patriots some credit."

Or was this the fact?

"Blame the refs, blame the cameras, concoct some sort of NFL-wide conspiracy theory, just never give credit to a 12-0 team for being 12-0, is that your plan?"

Oh, this must be the "facts"

"The only bad calls were a few non-calls made early in the game that you and all the other haters are too blind to have noticed."

So what am I supposed to dispute? That I need to grow up? That I am blind or a "hater" or that I have concocted some NFL-wide conspiracy theory.

Gosh the more I read your post, the more it sounds like a factless and feckless rant by a Patriots fan.
