Who is the Patriots most valuable player?

by Simms1156

Today on ESPN's First and Ten the question who is the Patriots most valuable player was asked. Upon hearing this I initially thought Tom Brady, he is the quarterback and is going to put up record setting numbers this year. After my gut reaction of Brady I thought Maybe Randy Moss was more deserving. He is also putting up record setting stats and is facing consistent double teams. One big factor in favor of Moss is that when he arrived is when the Patriots started putting up the ridiculous numbers but the case can also be made that Moss' career was nearly dead before he was traded to New England. I think that these two are equally important in the Patriots run but I would not give the Patriots team MVP award to either of them!!

I personally would split the MVP award 5 ways, between all of the offensive linemen. This is where it all starts for the Patriots and the time that Brady gets to look for an open wide receiver is just absurd, obviously the time Randy Moss has to get away from coverage is also ridiculous. For these reasons I think that the Patriots MVP is their offensive line.

Who, in your opinion is the Patriots MVP or in my case MVP's.

The MVP is Brady, but it is all because of his Offensive Line.

I've narrowed it down, but in no particular order - The O-line, the Defense, the Special teams, the tight ends, the running backs, the practice squad, the coorinators, the position coaches, the administrative staff, the lockerroom attendants, the guys who deliver packages and mail, the stadium ushers (give or take one guy), the people who clean the bathrooms, the ladies who sew the uniforms, every former Patriot, every person who impersonated a player to get laid, the media who ask the puffball questions, the media who don't ask questions, the media that brainwashes the entire New England region, the guys who send the satellite transmissions for the media, the accountants who cover up all of the HGH purchases, the ticket rippers, the turnstile counters, the bean counters, the capologists, anyone who ever enjoyed the movie The Patriot, the owner, the fans, the people who write on the message boards, the haters, all of the WRs except for one and the backup quarterbacks. And somehow Red Sox fans are somewhat responsible, too. But not the cheating, running-the-score-up head coach - OK, ok... he didn't cheat, he just sold what was left of his teeny, flavorless soul to the Devil.

(I'm probably forgetting someone...)

Everyone else is just playing as they should - no better, no worse - and doing the job expected of them.

I think it's a tie between Brady and Randy Moss with regard to the MVP question. Now the big question is can they keep this up? Their schedule doesn't get any easier and if there are two teams that can knock them off, one would be Pittsburgh and the other would be the New York Giants.

It's going to be fun to see them go 16-0 only to lose in the playoffs. Similar to another potent so-called-unstoppable team Randy Moss played for - the 15-1 1998 Vikings

I'm not saying they'll go undefeated because well, they won't.

But they aren't winning the Super Bowl either.

What Pats fans don't understand is that like EVERY other team, they are a football injury away from being just like every other team. Hell, they barely beat a banged up Colts squad.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles or even Dolphins knocked them off. Belichick will then explain how it makes the team better by taking the pressure off to start Brady, Moss and all the stars all 16 games. Of course, then when the starters take the last couple weeks off, it will screw up the pinpoint timing and they'll get "shocked" by an inspired Colts, Steelers or whomever at home. it would be especially sweet if it was the Browns (Belichick's old haunt).

Because it's the kind of thing that happens every year...TWICE since 1994 has the team with the best record in the regular season WON the Super Bowl. 'Cause history is a repetitive muffacker repetitive muffacker.

Two years ago, the Colts started 13-0, no one gave Pittsburgh a shot in hell in the playoffs, but the Steelers got hot and won the whole thing. This was in the time where it seemed like everyone and their mom got hurt on the Patriots, but they just continued to win. I feel like this year's Colts do the exact same thing--be banged up in the regular season, get healthy and hot down the stretch, and turn the world upside down and beat the Pats in Foxborough.

I wrote this long rant explaining why they aren't going to lose, but realized that hatred has made many blind. I'm going to enjoy watching one of the best teams in sports history play, it's twice as special because they are my team. Hate all you want, it doesn't change the fact that only the Patriots can beat themselves, and they are so good, the other team needs to play mistake free football even if the Pats are beating themselves.

Yeah, Chris Hanson. He doesn't even qualify for punting stats because he only has 22 punts.

You sound like Woody Paige. It can't be the offensive line. It's not MVP's, plural, it's MVP, singular. The guy they could not win without is Tom Brady. Simple as that.

Before Randy Moss, Welker, or even Stallworth, this team had already won three Super Bowls. Would Brady's stats be as good without any of those three? Probably not. But seriously, every elite team in the NFL has a great offensive line, and everyone knows they're key to winning. But on any given play or game those guys are interchangable. Tom Brady is not. Throw Matt Cassel in there from day one with this current team and they'd lose at least three games.

TOM BRADY IS THE MVP. CASE CLOSED.

Well said, Kroberts. Tom Brady plays remarkably well with or without a good offensive line. Back in 2005, the O-line leaked like a sieve and the Pats had NO running game or superstar receivers, and Tom Brady put up his best regular season numbers to date. Who but John Elway can do so much with so little?

It's Brady. Now we've seen if roles were reversed with Brady and Manning what things would be like. Brady is throwing to his third different recieving core in three seasons. Not 3 different #1 recievers, but completely different WR's, top to bottom. Every other historically great QB has had a WR best friend, with notable exceptions of Elway and Marino. The Math is simple:

Peyton - Marvin Harrison = Eli.

Brady + Anyone = SB.
