if i was starting a team from scratch, I would take Peyton...call me crazy...i just think Brady is in the right place at the right time. Bradys obviously very good and a proven winner, but i think peyton is way more talented, and could benefit from better coaching (psst the steelers were pass rushing peyton alot!!!!)

Brady is most over-rated quarterback in the history of the NFL. The quarterback position isnt that important for the Patriots. Their TEAM won the Super Bowl and everyone is making a big deal of how good Brady is. Imagine how ridiculous it would sound if people tried to say Who's better? Deion Branch or Jerry Rice? This question is just as silly

Are you kidding me? That's exactly the question!! All the other top quarterbacks have amazing Hall of Fame (or to be) recievers! Terry Bradshaw: John Stallworth, Lynn Swann Joe Montana: Jerry Rice Peyton Manning: Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne

Being a champion makes you a winner. Between two players, the better one will be the one with the most championships. Brady has 3 super bowl rings, Manning has zero. Brady is better than Manning.

I think Peyton would beat Brady in the QB challenge because of pure talent, but seeing what Brady has accomplished and remembering the game winning drives that he has conducted I have to choose Brady. Maybe Peyton would benefit from having better coaches, but I would also like to see what Brady could do when surrounded by Harrison, Wayne, and Edge. PS - Please change the team abbreviation for the Colts to IND, clt looks like part of the female anatomy.

Peyton is better hands down. Here is the test. When Dungy puts Peyton on the field, he may as well go up and get a hot dog, because there is not much to do other than say "make sure you share the ball with Edgerin too." Whereas, Belichek (like Andy Reid) has to plot and scheme for every play (beyond the initial scripted ones). The bottom line is that Colts wins and Manning's wins, and Patriots wins are not Brady's.

This is exactly how this debate has gone every time it has been brought up. I don't think it is a simple answer. Afew simple things to begin with though. In terms of talent, there is no doubt that Peyton Manning is at least 10 times more talented than Tom Brady. The guy asked what would Brady do with Marvin harrison and I think the answer is nothing. I don't think Tom Brady accomplishes much on most other teams. It is clear to me that Tom Brady can't do all the things that Peyton Manning can do. Peyton Manning can do all the things that Tom Brady can do...except win. Peyton Manning for all his talent has been a loser throughout his career. Both in college and in the pros he has failed to win the big game. But that brings up another question. How much of winning and losing is the QB. Vinitiari made his FGs and Vanderjet missed his. How does that make Brady a winner and Manning a loser? An obscure rule won the Pats a SB and an undefeated team saw its coaches son kill himself right before the playoffs. How does that make a QB a winner or a loser?

F*** u. You seriously don't think that Tom Brady could do things with Harrison or Wayne? Who does he have right now? Gabriel and Caldwell, and he is putting up very spectacular #s considering that. How do you think Manning would fare if he had to use Gabriel and Caldwell. He'd have a pissy fit. And then go film another commercial.

i think manning is amazing on offense, like G-unit said, all the colts do is give manning the ball and he takes care of the rest. put brady in a situation like that and he wont be as successful. that being said, brady does deserve a lot of credit for winnign those superbowls but at the same time i think a lot of people would agree it really is the system.

Obscure rule? Please, let's not pull into question the rule book. It's a rule, was a rule, and always will be a rule, GET OVER IT!!!! And how are they Manning's wins? He has one of the top RBs in the game and two of the top recievers. The fact that he hasn't and couldn't get it done speaks volumes for how much better of a QB Brady is. Like I said before, Manning may be more talented, but I would choose Brady over Peyton any day.

Enybo, I think that post glosses over everything that has been said. Brady got lucky multiple times and the Patriots were constantly bailed out by Adam V's heroics. The Patriots play in a great system while the Colts were winning for a long time only because they had Manning. Manning is a great QB period. Brady is a great "system" QB and has played for great "teams." If you were building a team and choose Brady over Manning you'd be crazy because it would restrict how you built the rest of the team.

"QB Challenge" - do we judge baseball players based on the Home Run Derby? Give me a break. Those stupid skill tests mean nothing.

"The quarterback isn't that important to the Patriots" - I believe you've confused the New England Patriots with the Baltimore Ravens. Understandable, but a key difference is that the Pats don't have any murderous thugs on their team, and they've won three superbowls. Just keep repeating that to yourself. "Bailed out" by "Adam V's heroics"? (His name is Vinatieri, by the way.). What alternate reality are you living in?

One might point out that only the quarterback gets the kicker close; all the kicker does is get the three points. The kicker only gets a chance to perform his "heroics" if the rest of the team gets him close enough. You make it sound as though Vinatieri carried the whole team on hsi back, when all he does is perform one specific task. Any decent kicker could do what Vinatieri has done - most haven't had the opportunity because their QBs aren't as good in the clutch as Brady. No one is, no one playing in the NFL today, anyway.

OK, never mind the championships. Who's won more playoff games? Overtime games? Come-from-behind wins? Games in snow? OK, just kidding, that last one wasn't really fair, Peyton's a whiny wuss who can't handly weather or adversity. Come on, you were all thinking it. Has Tom Brady ever blamed his secondary for a loss? Nope. Meanwhile, Peyton's over there saying what his agent tells him, even if that means blaming his teammates for his own mistakes.

I always think of it like this: Would the Pats have won three Super Bowls w/Peyton Manning instead of Tom Brady? Would Tom Brady have won three Super Bowls with the Colts? The first one is tough -because Manning has a knack for crapping the cot when it matters most. But I think even the biggest Brady supporter has to admit that he would have less jewelry had he been starting for Jim Mora and Tony D these last five years.

Does that mean Manning's better? I guess it should mean that. But when I think about it, it still comes down to results, and Manning's consistent failure at the most crucial times makes me believe that the Pats wouldn't have won those three Super Bowls w/Cut That Meat under center. So I'm back where I started.

Manning-Brady is basically the current equivalent of Marino-Montana. One clearly has superior tools, but couldn't/can't win, while the other's greatest skills appear to be leadership and courage under fire. Which matters more? In the end, it has to be the latter, because that's what it takes to win at the highest level, and winning, ultimately, IS the only thing.

anyone who's played football knows the only reason you play is to win, not for the personal stats. You can "pretend" to say Dilfer is better than Marino because he has ONE Championship but the truth is that there are some abnormalities (this is one of them, Dilfer lucked out by playing on a team with an amazing defense). Brady is different than Dilfer because has THREE and Manning hasn't even gotten to a Super Bowl (yet alone won the big game). Football is all about winning, so Brady wins this debate...

Assuming the league to redraft everyone, with the first pick I'd take Brady, he has proven he can do more with less, while Manning as proven he is good with a run game, 2 Pro Bowl recievers, and a Pro Bowl TE. The best WR Brady has had is Branch, who shldn't even be a no 1 reciever

It's simple. Brady is only good when he sticks to the short game developed by an excellent coaching staff. Whenever he faces ANY kind of pressure, or tries throwing it more than 10 yards on a consistant basis, well, you get ANOTHER four-interception game. I must be watching all the wrong Patriot games, but it I've only seen ONE throw go for a completion when Brady came under pressure (sorta). The rest have gone for incompletions or interceptions. So Brady, if you truly want your team to win......stick to the game plan. Hand it off, punch it up the gut, throw the short stuff, and WIN. That's what it's all about. Otherwise, quit trying to drop back and play quarterback, it's obviously not working.

1. Peyton = UT, Brady = UM (obviously anyone from the SEC is sweet).

2. Peyton holds better stats and more records than Brady could dream of.

3. Number 1 pick in the draft vs. Seventh round draft pick. (I know this doesn't necessarily mean shit, but just an overview of what the NFL scouts considered as 'talent').

4. Through Brady's ring, he had an unimaginable coaching staff. After their third ring, both the OC and DC left for head coaching jobs - telling you of the brains they had on the sidelines.

5. A common viewpoint: The Pats have always had a better defense than the Colts.

6. You can argue that the Colts have better WRs and whatnot, however no other team relies on their QB more than the Colts rely on Peyton (this falls back to 5 - lack of defense).

7. He simply has better physical attributes: More accurate, stronger arm, better vision, etc.

8. He is having this unbelievable year with an incredible lack of running game. Teams dare him to pass, and he laughs in their faces after the game when his statline reads 350yds, 4tds. Brady has the luxury being able to spread out the defense (this argument is obviously only applicable to this year).

9. He is a hell of a lot funnier, not to mention more marketable. You cant watch a commercial break on ESPN without seeing Peyton in an add - I guess graduating with a 3.8 or somethin in marketing has paid off (By the way, his new commercial with the "Moooooooo-vers" is hilarious).

10. Manning may very well be the actual smartest player to ever play the game. He is described by many, namely Madden, that he is 'half coach, half player'.

While I know some of these arguments are bullshit, I full-heartedly believe that Peyton is without-a-doubt the #1 QB and player in the NFL.

Just some alternate views. I'm still not settled on who I would rather have, but it seems Peyton is taking a hosing, so I'll throw out some stuff in his defense.

Speaking of defense...Colts have a bad defense, yet with 10+ games each year. Pair Manning up with a defense that can stop the run and all of a sudden you'll have a different story. Since you want stats, and most people have been ignoring that request, I'll provide some. Yards allowed per game, Pats ranked 12th, Colts ranked 20th. Points given up per game, Pats ranked 5th, Colts ranked 20th.

Also people tend to say that Manning is surrounded by all this all-pro talent on offense. Outside of Marvin Harrison, you could argue that all those players benefitted from having Peyton as their QB. It's not as though Reggie Wayne set the world on fire when he was in college. His senior year, he had all of 755 yards, which ranked second on his team. What has Edge done since leaving for the desert? Besides get the most touches of any back in the league, bupkus. I think teams fearing Manning, played a role in him having a much higher YPC. (He's currently at 2.8 ypc for the year)

One thing I'm surprised no one has brought up, is that Manning plays in a dome for half the year and BRady gets to play in Foxborough in the bitter cold. That just may have an affect on the stats, skewing them in Manning's favor.

Like I said, I haven't chosen sides yet, but I just thought I'd throw some stuff out there.
