Who's Now is Now Awful

I kind of liked the thing for the first few weeks. And then there was last night. Pitting David Ortiz against Tom Brady. I wanted to gouge my eyes out. And then strangle Stuart Scott.

Putting two guys from the same town/region in the same matchup. ESPN did it so the Boston people will have to choose. They thought we actually cared about Who's Now and would tear ourselves apart with the decision. They were mistaken. And, despite what Stu Scott and the rest of the "panel" think, it's not a hard choice.

In case you were wondering, the answer is Tom Brady. It's not even close.

Scott tried to make the case for Big Papi, and made blanket assumptions about Boston fans in the process. Scott relied upon the fact that the Red Sox will always be bigger than the Patriots, and he's pretty correct in that fact. But he made it seem like football didn't matter in New England, like the Patriots three championships were made obsolete by Red Sox one championship.

Don't get me wrong, I love David Ortiz as much as anybody. But Tom Brady, the underdog story to end all underdog stories, making the Patriots into a dynasty along with Coach Belichick and everyone else, surpasses the amazing seasons, and one championship season, Ortiz had a hand in. Scott and Wilbon, in particular, made football seem like no big deal in New England (in horrific Boston accents, no less). They obviously didn't see more than one million people pack the streets of Boston in 2001. Or forget how mediocre the franchise was in years before. Or how our stadium sells out every game with the most expensive tickets in the NFL. Then, Herbstreit goes on about how easy it is to hate Brady, but most people love him anyway. Last time I checked, there are plenty of people that hate Brady. That's just from a sporting aspect.

Brady is New England's most eligibile bachelor, Ortiz is married. Brady is attractive, Ortiz...has a nice smile atop a teddy-bear physique. Brady rolls with celebrities, Ortiz rolls with Manny Ramirez. Brady has deals with Nike, Rolex and Gap, Ortiz has deals with D'Angelo and VitaminWater.

It's not even close.

Yeah, Brady should win the votes 100 percent to 0 percent. And who hates Brady, i am a steeler fan, but that doesn't mean I hate Brady. He is, in my opinion, tied for the best QB in the NFL, even though he has three rings and Peyton Manning has only one, it is still hard to pick Brady over Manning.

Me, I'll take the rings over the stats. Which means Brady wins over both, 3 rings to one....

who's now has been stupid this whole time. wilbon is the only one qualified to talk about these people. keyshawn doesn't even know who SHAWN WHITE is. they should never have even hired keyshawn, and the fans should vote on the entire 100% not 70%!!!

btw, certain players such as shawn white (who had a bigger percentage of votes from the fans) beat out their competitors, but the stupid so called "experts" votes screwed it all up. d-wade lost to shawn white, in the fans opinion

That's what's so funny about it...whoever designed it as a potential upset underestimated how much we love football in New England and how much we love Brady. Everyone thinks we're obsessed with the Red Sox (which we are), but we love the Pats too.

Mmmm...its a baseball town...Boston uses football to pass the time between october and March...much like philly uses baseball (actually hockey) to pass the time between August and January I was really expecting Ortiz to win

Oh man...if this happened, I can't lie, I'd be excited. The Sports Gal would have her own segment on Sportscenter, with her US Weekly fantasy league.

keep in mind that this was a 1-8 matchup, your loverboy brady is clearly more NOW, but i bet that locally, its kinda close, but the national attention that brady gets clearly makes him more NOW. call that a sweeping boston generalization if you must, i love making them.

I hate the whole "Who's Now" enterprise. I think its ridiculous. That said, I actually like the hiring of Keyshawn Johnson. He's a more muted and intelligent Michael Irvin. I think he will be great.

I like Keyshawn too. But in this case, he should stick to football, Herbstreit to college football, and Wilbon to PTI.

I also thought it was a good Idea but David Ortiz is not an 8 seed and when some one like Vince Young is a 5 seed it gets me mad since ortiz has proven himself alot and brought a world championship to Boston Verus Young who is a rising star and Ortiz is already one. Who's Now is a big joke
