Who's Going to Stop 'Da Bears'

Even though NFC Champion Bears face the 2nd easiest schedule for the 2007 season, do not look for much production out of their skill position players unless they address the QB position. Where’s the fantasy production? Special teams and this Bears ’D’ will continue to carry the load.

DEFENSE: [1] This Bears franchise starts on the defensive side of ball. Always has, always will! However, will they fill the shoes left by Tank Johnson and his ability to reap havoc within the interior line? Big loss!  However, Lovie Smith being the defensive mind that he is will find a way to make it happen.

With their aggressive nature this Bears defense led the league in takeaways and now facing the 2nd easiest schedule in 2007 look for much of the same production in 2007.

Cedric Benson : It’s too early in his career to determine whether or not Benson is capable of carrying the load in the NFL. However, Benson is a tough back and barring any type of injuries he should find his identity in this Bears offense. Do not get too excited, Benson is at best a third round fantasy selection.

Muhsin Muhammad : Remains this teams #1 option at the WR position and a surefire “chain-mover”.  In the past Muhammed has shown that he is capable of posting huge numbers, but playing in this Bears offense we’ve seen nothing but a steady decline in his production. Unless the QB play changes, look for a season similar to ‘06′ where Muhammad only posted 60 catches and 5 scores.

Bernard Berrian : Definitely capable of making the big play and if the Bears find a way to consistently pass the ball, Berrian has the ability to produce big numbers.  Mid-late rounder!

Robbie Gould : Considering he led this team in scoring and is the only consistent Bears player, Gould should be the first kicker chosen in your fantasy draft. This offense will struggle to produce redzone touchdowns and depend on Gould to salvage many abandoned opportunities.

Rex Grossman : Almost forgot him, then his name slipped my mind. Wow! That’s not saying much about this position for these Bears. Due to his inconsistent play Grossman is a fantasy owners nightmare if drafted. He’s still a young QB and to many he may be worth consideration, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Desmond Clark : If you have to field a TE Clark remains a middle-of-the-road option and should slip to the later rounds in the draft.

No highlight reel on this franchise!

I think the Bears will be in good shape. Rex Grossman is not going to cut it.

It's a shame the Panthers don't play them this season, because they would stop "Da Bears". If anything, they are teddy bears on offense.

I'd put Berrian ahead of Muhammad...

Darkhorse Bears players: Rashied Davis, WR... I saw him make some really good, clutch catches last year, and he could move into the starting lineup ahead of Muhammad...

Greg Olsen, TE... I know he's a rookie, but Clark was lacking consistency last year and Olsen will be given every chance to win that job and catch some balls... if of course, Grossman can ever learn to check down.

I'd have to agree with your darkhorses and raise you an Adrian Peterson. He's such an underappreciated back but always delivers what's asked of him. He'll definitely be getting more carries this year as #2 and I expect him to have a record season as a result. BEAR DOWN!

I agree with the Bears having a great season, but I do not think they will win a championship. I think Benson will do a great job in replacement for Jones, but would not be the top fantasy player if a better, more consistant quarterback. Nothing against Grosman, he will improve since he is so young and has shown his potential. His inconsistantly will also slow down.

Who's gonna stop the Bears? Rex Grossman. Heck, I trust Kyle Orton and Rez about the same amount.

Actually the best quote regarding Rex Grossman came from SportsPickle.com: "Rex Grossman, QB, Bears – Did you know Rex Grossman is a plant by white supremacists to prevent Lovie Smith from winning a Super Bowl?"
