White Sox & Tigers both win (Rogers stuck on

White Sox:

Jon Garland (7-3) got an early 1st inning lead when Jermaine Dye singles to shallow center scoring Scott Podsednik – Paul Konerko takes 2nd on the play. 3 batters later, Juan Uribe singles scoring both Dye and Knoerko.

The bottom of the 1st, the Cubs closed the gap a bit. Aramis Ramirez singles to right scoring Juan Pierre – Derrek Lee takes 3rd on the play. Next batter, Jacque Jones, also singles scoring Lee.

In the 3rd, Juan Uribe doubles off of Sean Marshall (4-7) scoring Joe Crede.

In the 8th, Juan Uribe strikes again with his 9th HR of the year scoring A.J. Pierzynski.

White Sox continue to make the Cubs their bytch by winning 6-2. Player of the game – easily Juan Uribe – 4AB 1R 3H 5RBI’s.

Tigers:

Kip Wells (0-3) got early help in the 1st when Sean Casey sacrifices to left scoring Jose A. Bautista.

In the 2nd, things just started to fall apart for the Pirates. Magglio Ordonez leads off the inning with a single. With 1 out, Marcus Thames hits a 2 run HR (16th). Next batter, Chris Shelton hits his 15th of the year.

In the 3rd, Curtis Granderson singles, Placido Polanco gets hit by a pitch. Wells then throws a wild pitch – Granderson takes 3rd & Polanco moves to 2nd. After Ivan Rodriguez lines out, Ordonez singles to right scoring Granderson. Polanco then triples to center scoring both Polanco & Ordonez.

Bottom 3rd – Bautista hits his 10th HR of the year (solo).

Bottom 5th – Kenny Rogers loads the bases. First giving up a double to Ronny Paulino, Nate McLouth singles to left – Paulino goes to 3rd, Bautista gets hit with a pitch. Jack Wilson grounds out to 2nd but Paulino scores. Sean Casey singles to right, McLouth & Bautista score.

Bottom 8th, Mike Edwards gets on base after pitcher Joel Zumaya errors on a throw to 1st. Next batter, Bautista triples in Edwards.

Final – Tigers 7 Pit 6. Roman Colon gets his 1st win of the year & Todd Jones earns his 21st save.

Rogers only goes 4.1 innings, just short of the required 5 for a decision. Players of the game – Marcus Thames 3AB 1R 2H 2RBI & Sean Casey 4AB 1H 3RBI
