Which will be remembered longer 19-0 or 0-16

With the possibility of an undefeated team and a winless team in the same NFL season, it got me to thinking; which will be remembered longer?  Sure, the perfect season is an absoultely incredible feat in the modern NFL, but think about how hard it is to go winless as well. As the season bears down and the players started to break down, you would think that the Dolphins would be able to take advantage of this and eek out a win. It just seems that they don't have any drive left, and are fit to be remembered as the winless Dolphins of 2007.

One of those little lessons that I learned in my college marketing classes is that positive things usually do not get remembered as much as negative things.  For example, you have a great meal in a restaurant, you tell 5 people, and they tell a few.  If you get food poisoning from that same restaurant, you are more likely to tell 5 times more people, and word will spread much faster.  Relate that to this situation now.  If the Patriots can win the Super Bowl and go undefeated, AND the Dolphins lay the golden egg and go winless... which do you think people will remember more from the 2007 season. (Granted, I do believe the "spygate" incident will always keep the Patriots in the top news bracket for a long time to come).

Food for thought....

Gotta win the games, and lose the games first.

That's why they play the games, as Chris Berman would say!

I think the Pats will be remembered more. I say this because, I know that it was the'72 dolphins that went undefeated, but all I know about the only winless team is that it was the Bucs in some year.

I think part of that is because the media rams the "Dolphin Champagne Party" down our throats every year. They won't let us forget.

I read in the paper this week that the "champagne party" is just a media myth.

Due to the general volume and obnoxiousness of New England/Boston fans, a Pats 19-0 season would be continually shoved down the rest of the world's throat for centuries, even if New England themself would put up six straight 0-16 seasons.

Yes, us obnoxious (and mean) New England fans who control the programming on ESPN, Fox, CBS, and NBC. Yeah, sorry guys. We'll try to ease off. For tomorrow's SportsCenter, I'll make sure they don't mention anything that has to do with the Patriots.

I think 19-0 WOULD (you might want to change all those "will"s in your article, because 13-0 is not 19-0) be a bigger story. But the Dolphins won't go 0-16. They're going to beat the Ravens next week. The Ravens are playing even flatter than the Phins are. And Miami will see this game as their best chance to win.

I think they will be remembered equally and in conjunction. As long as people remember one, they will remember the other, as the season that saw an undefeated team and finally saw a winless team in the same year.

Especially since an 0-16 season would mean a pair of losses to the team that might go undefeated.

Then answer this to all the 19-0 fans- Why risk any injury just for the perfect season-- what if Brady or Moss get hurt-- game before the playoffs- cost them the superbowl- or... what if they rest these guys, they dont' get hurt, and they win the superbowl--

Don't you risk injury any time you take the field? You also don't want your players to get rusty. With a bye in the playoffs, sitting Brady and Moss in week 17 would mean 3 weeks without taking a real hit, running a real route, making a real block, dropping back for a real pass, etc.

That's three weeks for Brady to knock up another hottie. Or two. Or eight.

I would assume, score pending, the starters will play the first half of the Jets game, and the first half of the Fins game. Play 3 -4 quarters of the Giants game, as they will be resting their starters too. This way, they have a full game before their week off. Pretty exciting to me. I want to see 19-0, but in all actuallity, I really want to see a super bowl victory.

0-16. 19-0 would be great, but I would rather see 0-16

I think if both happen, they will go together hand in hand in history. The 72 Dolphina were the last undefeated squad. They pass the torch to the 07 Patriots, and in doing so set a modern day mark for futility. I think both marks will be remember equally if both are accomplished.
