When College Basketball Means 3rd Grade Basketball

I was in Syracuse this weekend and was able to catch the "big" Connecticut Syracuse game on TV in between dodging 8-feet piles of snow that lined every roadway in central NY. I tell you, I have never seen the level of sloppiness that I saw during that game. Turnovers that I haven't seen since I played biddyball back in the early years of grade school; ball-handling I haven't seen since my pick-up game last week; and shooting that I haven't seen since well...ever. These 2 teams are not their respective teams of old. I am very surprised that Jim Calhoun and Jim Boeheim are standing for this type of play. There will be no Big East magic this year, and I am not expecting anything from these guys in the NCAA.

(My first opinion...short and sweet. Look out Wiki-world!)

Very Very true UConn is not a NC2A team. For that matter, Im not too sure if Cuse will make the Tourney either. Its all about the ACC still the golden standard for College Hoops. Who the hell is PC?

Providence, perhaps? If so, I can only imagine the horror of watching a Providence/St. Johns match-up! I would have to agree in the ACC comment BigP made.

"look out for us next year" = 2 players will transfer, 2 players will get suspended/expelled for criminal behavior, 1 will fall off the face of the earth, and Tim Welsh will get a 5 year extension.

Well if it makes you feel any better, Gillian did it to both my schools XU and UVA, and they have done much better since he left.

Pean - I feel your pain. I look at all of the kids at Bucknell (my alma-mater) now and am envious of what they now have. Well, as far as a mid-major anyway.

UCONN is like Duke or North Carolina and the other "rep" schools, all they have to do is not get eliminated in the first round of the Big East Tournament and they're in on rep alone. And with three freshman, three sophomores and a junior in their first seven they will be back sooner rather than later. And Syracuse won't be far behind, they had a decent recruiting class as well.

Boy, it's been a quick fall from grace for the Orange since the glory days of Anthony, Warrick, and McNamara, huh? And for that matter, for the Huskies since Gordon and Okafor.
