When “Sorry” Isn’t Good Enough!

The west coast hasn’t seen a crime like this since O.J. Simpson got away with a double-murder…There I said it, “The Juice” got off the hook! On Saturday, the Oregon Ducks got off as they beat the Oklahoma Sooners…Well, at least that’s what the scoreboard said. Unfortunately, everybody knows across the nation, except for the nutcakes who call Eugene home who actually won the game. Perhaps this is what Roy Williams had in mind when saying he “doesn’t pay attention to the scoreboard.” Oh well. On Monday it was Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen to the rescue…Admitting “errors in the final minute and 12 seconds of the game.” You don’t say, Tom?
With two critical “errors” occurring in the final minute and 12 seconds of the game, what else was Tommy boy to do but suspend the officiating crew for one game? One game…Are you serious? This sounds like Major League Baseball’s former steroid policy…Who came up with this punishment, Bud Selig? It appears you don’t understand the serious ramifications of this. This isn’t on the same level as a starting quarterback getting suspended from playing in the Wofford game after getting into a bar fight, or a player missing some class and will miss the game against Elon College. This is far more serious than that…And I’m not even an Oklahoma fan. Just a question Tom - you knew this game was going to be the biggest game in your conference over the weekend, why not assign your overall best crew to do this game? Please don’t say that your best crew was doing the game in Eugene on Saturday…Why, I’ve seen better referees down at the local foot locker.
Now granted, everybody does make mistakes. Hell, everybody has skeletons in their closets, but again, this is why college football implemented instant replay, to help keep the integrity of the game…To get the questionable/border line calls correct? “GET IT RIGHT,” isn’t that what was echoed by coaches around the country? It’s quite apparent the Pac-10 doesn’t really hold too much value in this. We all saw what the replay booth saw on two separate occasions, why couldn’t he get either call correct? Also, why is this the conference in the country where the visiting team isn’t allowed and doesn’t get the common courtesy of bringing their own conference officials? What’s the reason behind this…To help ensure this wouldn’t happen?
Now comes word that Oklahoma is trying to get this game and result eliminated from their schedule…I don’t know about that, but then again, we’ve never really seen an outcome of a game play out this way. Sure, this concept probably sounds a little like the side of the sore-loser variety and there’s nothing good about being one, but in this situation it might warrant them to a certain extent. Unfortunately, college football is unlike Wal-Mart here people…The NCAA doesn’t accept any returns on items. Doesn’t matter if there’s a receipt or not…Read the fine print: “No refunds will be given!” Maybe try Target or K-mart then? Are there even any Target stores in Oklahoma? The only game that somewhat reminds me of the crap is the Colorado-Missouri game and the whole fifth down thing. Although in that game, yes the refs screwed up again, but more of the blame needs to fall on the coaches and players. I’m sure at least one guy on the Missouri sidelines could count to five. But honestly though, there’s really no excuse for this sort of thing to happen nowadays! Coaches, players, and fans must always be held accountable for their actions, referees need to be, too…A one-game suspension does not fit the crime here, especially when we’re in a sport where one loss can make all the difference in the world! Remember, no playoff system here.
With aspirations of possibly a BCS Bowl bid (I know it was a long shot), the Sooners might again have sights set on sunny San Diego…All in part to a corrupt 1:12. Well Sooners fans, I don’t know why you guys are still upset…Tommy did say he was sorry! What more do you guys want? I don’t know what’s worse, finding your old lady in bed with another man or getting fkuc by a Duck? I got dibs on Daisy, sorry Donald. When she tells you, “Baby, I’m sorry,” for some reason that just seem to cut the muster and isn’t good enough…Who knows why that always seems to be the case? Well I introduce you to the Sooner Nation…Welcome to the world of Bob Stoops! Hey OU fans, here’s a suggestion: next time, if you’re going to lose, do it in style…The way of the Golden Domers, just get taken behind the woodshed…No questions asked! Pac-10, get a clue…And where’s Congress when you need them? Although, at least she said sorry…Isn’t that right Bob?
