When “Sorry” Isn’t Good Enough!

by user LastRow

The west coast hasn’t seen a crime like this since O.J. Simpson got away with a double-murder…There I said it, “The Juice” got off the hook! On Saturday, the Oregon Ducks got off as they beat the Oklahoma Sooners…Well, at least that’s what the scoreboard said. Unfortunately, everybody knows across the nation, except for the nutcakes who call Eugene home who actually won the game. Perhaps this is what Roy Williams had in mind when saying he “doesn’t pay attention to the scoreboard.” Oh well. On Monday it was Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen to the rescue…Admitting “errors in the final minute and 12 seconds of the game.” You don’t say, Tom?

With two critical “errors” occurring in the final minute and 12 seconds of the game, what else was Tommy boy to do but suspend the officiating crew for one game? One game…Are you serious? This sounds like Major League Baseball’s former steroid policy…Who came up with this punishment, Bud Selig? It appears you don’t understand the serious ramifications of this. This isn’t on the same level as a starting quarterback getting suspended from playing in the Wofford game after getting into a bar fight, or a player missing some class and will miss the game against Elon College. This is far more serious than that…And I’m not even an Oklahoma fan. Just a question Tom - you knew this game was going to be the biggest game in your conference over the weekend, why not assign your overall best crew to do this game? Please don’t say that your best crew was doing the game in Eugene on Saturday…Why, I’ve seen better referees down at the local foot locker.

Now granted, everybody does make mistakes. Hell, everybody has skeletons in their closets, but again, this is why college football implemented instant replay, to help keep the integrity of the game…To get the questionable/border line calls correct? “GET IT RIGHT,” isn’t that what was echoed by coaches around the country? It’s quite apparent the Pac-10 doesn’t really hold too much value in this. We all saw what the replay booth saw on two separate occasions, why couldn’t he get either call correct? Also, why is this the conference in the country where the visiting team isn’t allowed and doesn’t get the common courtesy of bringing their own conference officials? What’s the reason behind this…To help ensure this wouldn’t happen?

Now comes word that Oklahoma is trying to get this game and result eliminated from their schedule…I don’t know about that, but then again, we’ve never really seen an outcome of a game play out this way. Sure, this concept probably sounds a little like the side of the sore-loser variety and there’s nothing good about being one, but in this situation it might warrant them to a certain extent. Unfortunately, college football is unlike Wal-Mart here people…The NCAA doesn’t accept any returns on items. Doesn’t matter if there’s a receipt or not…Read the fine print: “No refunds will be given!” Maybe try Target or K-mart then? Are there even any Target stores in Oklahoma? The only game that somewhat reminds me of the crap is the Colorado-Missouri game and the whole fifth down thing. Although in that game, yes the refs screwed up again, but more of the blame needs to fall on the coaches and players. I’m sure at least one guy on the Missouri sidelines could count to five. But honestly though, there’s really no excuse for this sort of thing to happen nowadays! Coaches, players, and fans must always be held accountable for their actions, referees need to be, too…A one-game suspension does not fit the crime here, especially when we’re in a sport where one loss can make all the difference in the world! Remember, no playoff system here.

With aspirations of possibly a BCS Bowl bid (I know it was a long shot), the Sooners might again have sights set on sunny San Diego…All in part to a corrupt 1:12. Well Sooners fans, I don’t know why you guys are still upset…Tommy did say he was sorry! What more do you guys want? I don’t know what’s worse, finding your old lady in bed with another man or getting fkuc by a Duck? I got dibs on Daisy, sorry Donald. When she tells you, “Baby, I’m sorry,” for some reason that just seem to cut the muster and isn’t good enough…Who knows why that always seems to be the case? Well I introduce you to the Sooner Nation…Welcome to the world of Bob Stoops! Hey OU fans, here’s a suggestion: next time, if you’re going to lose, do it in style…The way of the Golden Domers, just get taken behind the woodshed…No questions asked! Pac-10, get a clue…And where’s Congress when you need them? Although, at least she said sorry…Isn’t that right Bob?

It seems you're making some unfair accusations. I'm not going to defend that crew by any stretch of the imagination, but how do you know that this isn't the best crew the Pac 10 had? How do you know that this wasn't the most experienced crew they had? Do you have any evidence to support the statement that they're not, other than that they totally blew the game?

I mean what they demonstrated in the game and what their resumes said to expect may not be the same thing. Do you have anything to back the idea that GOING INTO THE GAME there was was evidence this crew wasn't the best the Pac 10 had to offer?

If I know the PAC10, and I'll pretend I do... their best refs were at the USC-Nebraska game ensuring USC would win...

In response to your crazy question, NO I don't have any evidence. Now let me ask you a question...Do you have any evidence 2-Pac is dead? That is other than people telling us? Do you yourself actually know? I'm just trying to paint you the best picture of how retarded it is to actually be asking that question? I guess you're a Duck Dude or at least a Pac-10 guy? Or a West-Coast Gangster perhaps?

Tupac's autopsy photos are on thesmokinggun.com and also on rotten.com... pretty hard to fake those (with all his tatts and scars from earlier shooting)

My question wasn't stupid. You made an assertion, and I asked if you had ANYTHING, even something flimsy, to back it up. I made no assertion about Tupac, so I don't have to back it up. And even if I had, I'd have the fact that it was widely reported that he had died. You don't even have that. Again, stop being so condescending because I asked you to back your assertion. My question wasn't stupid, nor was it crazy. Stop saying things that you can't back up.

lol...I wasn't mad. I thought you were the angry one. After all, it was you that called my question silly, stupid and retarded. By the way, I don't know where you'd get the impression that I'm a Duck fan or a Pac 10 guy. I've never said anything that would give the impression that I'm something I'm not. In fact, if you go back and ready my first comment here, I said that I'm not going to defend that crew by any stretch of the imagination. Click my name, and you'll see on my page that the last article I wrote was a criticism of those calls. One more, I'd ask you to check facts before you just spew something.

Oh, so it's kind of like the famous concept Book Smart...Street Stupid right. Why do I give what they're resumes say? Actions speak louder than words & their actions tell me Foot Locker employs better refs than these jokers. However, let it be known for them to recieve death threats is just pruely insane & uncalled for.

Book smart and street smart...what are you talking about? Can you stay on topic? You're accusing the Pac 10 commissioner of knowingly using an incompetent crew in the biggest game the Pac 10 had that weekend (somehow bigger than #19 Nebraska at #4 USC). Don't get condescending with me for asking if you actually have any evidence whatsoever to back the idea that there was pre-game knowledge that this wasn't the best crew the Pac 10 had to offer.

They're officials, they're SUPPOSED to be incompetent. Otherwise they'd still be playing the game instead of living their lives vicariously.

Cute, but you still haven't answered my question. Do you have ANYTING to support the assertion that Pac 10 commissioner should have known before the game that this wasn't the best crew?

I don't want in this pissin' contest, I've got prostate problems....but no, There is no evidence that they aren't the best or worst crew, and you know it ASwaff...so why even ask? LastRow just wants these guys to loose their jobs, or heads or whatever. They prob. should. Why make calls that are clearly wrong, unless it was for monetary reasons? Huh? Sorry, but I just can't accept that people who memorize all those rules and arm-gestures could be just plain stupid! Maybe one of them, but the whole bunch? We're all sports fans and know a little about odds, gee whiz, what would those odds be(that the replay official and the rest of the crew are dumb as dirt? Slim. They may not be the worst officiating crew in the PAC 10, but I think it is safe to say that they are the greediest.
