Born on June 11, 1886 in Tuscarora, Nevada, Wheezer Dell (William George Dell) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Brooklyn Superbas over the course of his 4 year career. Dell broke into the bigs on April 22, 1912 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 2.34 ERA in 215 innings pitched in 1915, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Wheezer Dell's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1915, when he posted a 2.34 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 94 batters. However, others believe that it was 1916, when he posted a 2.26 ERA and struck out 76 batters.
