What is the point of the quarterback kneel?

by user Pnatt

If quarterbacks wanna spend half their time on the football field kneeling, they should spend their Sundays in church instead!

What should the rule be? That a team has to pass the ball at the end of the game? i dont understand your question...? Why wouldnt it exist?

No, if a team does a QB kneel, the clock does not restart, simple...

Its how you run out the clock, just lick kicking for touch at the end of a rugby game to end the game rather than running out the extra time.

It's BS. The solution is simple. QB kneel, the clock does not restart.

If they switch the rule that a kneel doesnt start the clock, then the team will just hand it off to a running back who will then fall straight down, do you also not want the clock to run if they do that?

So how will the game ever end if the clock doesnt start. Each play will take 8 seconds. A game will last 20 hours?

So I'm guessing this string of dumb questions is part of your ploy to stay "down in the rankings?"

So your defense of WHY the team shouldn't be allowed to run out the clock, is that the clock should stop??? That's not a defense, or a reason, that would be a solution. First, you have to explain why there is a problem before offering a solution.

So then whats the difference. Teams will just hand it off to the running back who will fall down. Same result. Clock runs out. Why is that not B.S. while quaterback kneeling is? You can't mess up if a qback just takes three steps back hands it to a stationary running back, who then falls down.

It's the same as giving the ball to the RB, only it's faster and it takes down the risk of injury.

I'm beggining to see why you chose the name "Pnatt." I think it's because it rhymes with Gnat which is a pest that keeps coming back and becoming increasingly annoying in its pursuit of whatever it's trying to get at. There's nothing debatable about this rule, let it go.

No. It's a stupid rule. The clock should stop on an quarterback kneel. Until a 1st down results or a punt is taken...

Your solution wont change anything. Then the team would just hand it off and the running back would fall down.

So a QB kneels and the clock stops and he gets a first down? BRILLIANT!

You know what, Pnatt, you're right. You should rewrite all the rules in all the sports and get rid of ALL the "BS" and "gay" stuff out there! And make sure you keep down voting everyone out there that makes sense! Stay strong, brother! You will be the Sports King! All hail Pnatt! Ruler of all that is ungay and not BS! He has brought the nonsense we all needed! No more will soccer players aim for the goal! No longer with a 3-point shot be worth 3 points! Nevermore will a kicker be known as a kicker, nay, he shall now be known as a sous chef! Thank you Pnatt for your innovative thinking and nonsensical mind! The world is right in your hands!

You do realize, it wouldn't change the outcome of more than .001% of games. Otherwise, teams are just going to run the ball and the clock will end up running out.

So there's no way that the rules could be changed to avoid the team in possession of the ball in the final 2-minutes of a half to kill the clock? That's all I want to know...

Why shouldn't they be allowed to kill the clock? They have earned their lead and have regained possession, so all they have to do is avoid turning the ball over.

Teams play to win, and it works either way! Besides, if you changed that rule, then who is to say that a QB slips, his knee touches the ground, oops, no, WOW, he gets a free pass to get back up and complete a pass and change the outcome of the game. Hey, since QB's knees can touch the ground us wide recievers should be able to fall down and get up! Why not RB's? Hell, lets only stop the clock when someone runs out of bounds!! Pnatt, if you don't understand the rules to AMERICAN football, you can join the rest of us after last Saturday!!

That's not my point. My point is that American sports often corrupt the integrity of sports. Consider ice hockey. It's a uniquely Canadian sport and it's one of the greatest sports on the planet, but Americans poison the integrity of the NHL by buying Canadian team and relocating them to the desert or way south!! Ohh and baseball and gridiron ain't exactly the most exciting sports on the planet. Both American. And basketball is more exciting and it was invented by a Canadian. Shows how much Americans really care about sport.

So write a legitimate article with some actual content critiquing American sports and stop the dumb, nit-picky arguments that just makes you look like either a) a jack ass looking for attention or b) a complete idiot that doesn't understand the basic rules of sports.

On another note, you're never going to get a decent coversation about anything if you keep downvoting everyone that responds to you, even when they're sincere. Talk about unsportmanlike and corrupt integrity.
