What happened to my NFC Championship?

Just like everyone, I did a season preview for the NFL. Specifically, my NFC picks were New Orleans and Philadelphia in the championship game, and I'd just like to ask: What the hell happened? Both teams are 0-2, and although only 1/8th of the season is gone, historically, if a team starts 0-2, their chances for making the playoffs are immensely diminished. So, if they're going to have a hard time making the playoffs, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they're going to have a hard time making an NFC Championship Game. So, really, how did we get here, where two teams that were supposed to challenge for their division (at the least) are already in the hole.
[1] Iggles. Where to start with this one? The season is only two games old, but the Eagles already have an abundance of issues. At the head of the issues is, well, the head coach. And Reid has had off field issues that rival those of the Cincinnati Bengals, both of his sons have gotten in trouble with the law. And not trouble that could be bailed out with a couple hundred dollars; getting arrested for drugs is not a good summer. Donovan McNabb is making his own way off a turbulent off season, although his has nothing to do with the law - it has to do with his health. The last couple of season, the All Pro quarterback has had issues staying healthy, missing significant time in almost all the seasons where the Eagles have had promising results hung like a carrot in front of their noses. Maybe he isn't completely healthy, Carson Palmer and Dante Culpepper were rushed back after similar injuries, and the first season back was always rocky. Donovan was clearly missing some passes, and his accuracy wasn't what it used to be, but he still has a gun hung from his shoulder. Adding insult to injury (seriously), Donovan McNabb now feels the media spotlight, and constant booing by the home fans is due to racial issues. I won't discuss this because it's already been covered from every single angle. Some say, it's time for Donovan to move on, maybe a change of scenery will help him. No excuses - these guys are professionals - they need to get this thing ironed out before they kick this team out of the city.
[2] Les Saints. I'm confused, what happened to the dynamic offense of Brees, Bush, and Colston, because it looks like they're on ruffies during the game - averaging 12 points a game, good for 27th in the league. Bush has comes out on fire, if you like your all-purpose-awesome back putting the ball on the carpet (two times this season already). Drew Brees isn't lighting the world on fire either, in fact his 66.4 rating is one of the worst in the league, and he has a total of one offensive touchdowns - none in the first game. I'm sure there are some fantasy owners ready to kill themselves. The hot name on the coaching circuit doesn't seem to know what's wrong, and after a great season last year, he has everyone questioning whether this was just a one-year deal. The Saints aren't in terrible shape, unlike other 0-2 teams are, because they are in a terrible division, the NFC South does not have a winning team in it right now. They're like the Big LEast from a couple years back, when the winner of that conference was just a formality to get slaughtered. That being said, if the Saints don't figure things out quick, they could get buried even in that division too much to be able to dig out. Realistically, they have too good of an offense to have this kind of record, or to be held down for too long. However, that defense has already reared its ugly head, and could be the Achilles Heel that keeps this team out of the playoffs.
The Saints look much better at the bottom of their division than the Eagles. The NFC East has two teams at 2-0, and has an offensive explosion in the Cowboys that might be too hard to stop. They should thank their lucky stars that this is happening at the beginning of the season, and not at the end, because they certainly would be done. Also these teams are really costing me when I'm picking games - that's two in a row guys, get things in gear.
