What You Won't See on ESPN Tonight

This week in the CFL, the Toronto Argonauts and the Edmonton Eskimos have a bye.
Normally, this wouldn't be news. But in the world of the "Sports Leader" ESPN and the rest of the United States, this means that there were no football games played north of the border. Because of Ricky Williams, the 'news' that his past brings to the table, and his suspension from the NFL, the mainstream media only focus on him and the Argonauts.
However, if you can get CBC, TSN, or Comcast SportsNet, then you could have seen three great games from the north, where Toronto and Williams were not involved. In the early Friday night game, you could have seen the Hamilton Tiger-Cats get their first win with their new coach on a last second field goal against the Calgary Stampeders. Or, you could have seen, in the Friday night late game, the British Columbia Lions quarterback lose his composure at the end of the game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Or, you could have watched the defensive war that was the Winnipeg Blue Bombers vs. Montreal Alouettes first half or the second half of Montreal offense and referee horrible penalty calling on Saturday afternoon/evening.
But, none of these teams have a player that has the jaded history of Ricky Williams. Although, the Roughriders have a player, RB Kenton Kieth, that was charged with aggrevated assault this past week after a fight in a Regina bar, but he wasn't suspended by the NFL last year.
For the NFL diehards, the CFL may not be the 'big leagues' of football, but it is football. Yes, there are some large differences in the two leagues. But for football fans, this is something that can be overlooked or even understood. Those of you that have the opportunity to see a CFL game, I would highly recommend that you give the league a try.
So, without this site and other sport blogs, there would probably not be any mention of games, much less a CFL season this year.
