What Now?

[1]  He could have been rookie of the year. This player was the next big thing, and big time money maker.

The Portland Trailblazers were on the rise. Having Greg Oden was going to bring fans.

New image for this team, and more money for them.

Now Greg Oden is likely out for the season, because of knee surgery.

It's sad to see this happen. Greg Oden is only 19 years old, and having knee problems isn't good.

He has a bright future, but injury's has been with him since college. Wrist problems in college, and that hurt his offense.

This player has went through a lot. Now being out for the season, has to hurt.

Rookies getting injured, and being out for the season. That is unheard of, and it hurts for a number one draft pick.

Many believe the Portland Trailblazers should have pick Kevin Durant. This wouldn't have been consider if Greg Oden wasn't injured. Having a center like Oden is hard to find. The Portland Trailblazers did the right thing.

They need a solid player in the paint. Nothing but guards, that's what the Trailblazers have. Getting help in the paint is needed. Even though Oden is out of the season, they still have LaMarcus Aldridge. This player is 6 foot 10, but his stats are lacking. It will be hard for Aldridge to fell the shoes. He average 9 points, and 5 rebounds last season.

Let's face it, this team wasn't going anywhere. If Greg Oden never was injured, the Trailblazers still wouldn't have done anything. They still need help, just Oden isn't going to turn things around. Missing a superstar, that's the problem. Some one who is a leader, because their aren't any leaders on that team.

This isn't good for Oden, but this gives him time. He can work on his offense, and become more of a scorer. His defense is great, everyone has to agree. That part doesn't need improvement, but other parts do.

This gives Oden a chance to get more ready. Playing out the NBA level, and competing in the West Coast. He should turn this into a positive.

The Portland Trailblazers are only losing fans, that's it. Nothing on the court was going to change anyway. Oden still needed to improve, and the Trailblazer as well. This helps the Trailblazers, because they could get another good draft pick in 2008.

This hurts the NBA, because now they can't market Oden. He was going to bring more fans, and help the image. He is nice, and smart. A player that doesn't get into trouble, and the NBA needs him.

In the NBA some players act stupid, and are thugs. Carrying guns, and involve in illegal activities. Having Oden would have brought positive back to the league. Now we have to late another season for a bright kid.

This sucks for Portland this season, but in the long run it isn't that bad. How much of a difference was he going to make in his first year anyway? And because it wasn't something like being involved in illegal activities, he'll be back next year. And you make a good point that he could be joined by another top draft pick, which could be really good for Portland.

It's pure bad luck but I don't think he would have had that much of an impact in his first year.
