What Is Your Favorite College Football Experience?

by Dominator528

We are just one week away from the pageantry and tradition that is COLLEGE FOOTBALL (CF).  CF is like no other experience – each and every one of us have our favorites and our special places to be on any given Saturday – and that is the allure.  There is no professional venue that can compare to the total experience that is CF.  It is not just the smell of fresh cut grass and the mingling of old friends around stoked grills at tail gates across campus; but is the idea that this fervor is as intense at one college campus as it is at hundreds of others around the country.  I challenge anyone who dares compare the ENTIRE concept of the CF experience to any other sport on any level (even the NFL).  I say this because I know there are comparable experiences enjoyed on a handful of pro parking lots on Sundays; but the NFL would not dare to try and duplicate that experience by 100 because it would be diluted and sparce.

From the Midwest sounds of the Fighting Irish faithful echoing through the streets of South Bend, IN to the Florida breeze of the Seminole alumni in Tallahassee, FL we all have our favorite places to watch a CF game for the entire package.  Some be for the tradition and some for the new startseach and every year - it does not matter why we love CF it just matters that we do.  Please share your favorite place to see CF played and what about the experience is unique in that venue.  What makes your school stand above the rest win or lose….

Notre Dame Stadium. The entire thing is literally a religious experience. The band is the best I've ever seen (in person, I've only seen the Ohio State band on tv), the student section is sick, and everything is very old, but in a good way. Hate the team, love the games.

Going in line with a continuation of this theme - it is also ashame sometimes how these experiences can be taken for granted when you grow up around them and in my case work at and become involved in the experience yourself. I do have to say after 37 years of living in the literal shadows of the Golden Dome, actually coaching for a few seasons and now working investigations to combat those who wish to fraudulently profit and victimize those who love the experince I still understand what a great experience the entire weekend is. You can love the Irish or hate their percieved double standards at times - but you can not deny that when you come here for a football weekend - you get the package that has transended for the years the game has existed. The great thing this thread represents is how all college experinces have a group (some smaller some larger) that has the same passion for their school's experince as the ones we are talking about here. As a life long Notre Dame follower I love hearing how other school's love affairs effect others.

ND isn't even close to the best experience. Come South and you'll find out what is best

Beaver Stadium is insane. 107,000 fans all screaming "WE ARE, PENN STATE!" The giant letter "S" formed in the student body, the tradition of Penn State football, and not to mention, the Lion's excellence on the field. It's all unbelievable.

I can't wait for the game in Happy Valley on a couple of weeks. It has been a long time since we played there. I can't wait to experience the atmosphere.

One of my favorite venues (out side of South Bend of coarse) is Knoxville, TN. The Volunteer fans are outstanding (SEC as whole for that matter). I remember the 1st Notre Dame / UT game I went to in 92' - I always saw UT games on TV and when they split the T with the team I saw the cameras shake and thought that there must be an awfull breeze coming off the river. When I was there I found out it was from the fans and the noise literly shakes your eyes. I have to say I was hooked.

This is my favorite as well. I root for Georgia and loathe UT. But I've had the honor to sail to a game and tailgate on a boat prior to a game as part of the "Volunteer Navy" it's one of the coolest things I've ever done or ever seen. Boat after boat after boat was all painted orange with big flags. Sailing for miles with people on the border of the river singing "Rocky Top" Very very very cool
