What’s with the "C Patch"?

I always thought "C" was for Cookie…Well, at least that’s what Cookie Monster taught me! And that’s good enough for me! Love ya Cookie!
A month into the season, a lot of NFL players and fans don't seem to get what those square patches with a "C" and four stars are doing on the jerseys of some of their fellow players. " What the heck is a captain's patch? " Baltimore Ravens left tackle Jonathan Ogden asked Camille Powell of the Washington Post. Yeah, my sentiments exactly! Or more importantly, why would the NFL want to take an idea from the NHL? Everything associated with that league, is well, not on the level of Michael Vick’s life right about now, but pretty damn close! he purpose of the patches is to recognize players who are team leaders, but so what. As fans of our particular teams, two things…Either we already know this, or else we don’t give a shit! And if we don’t give a shit, why on earth would we give a rats ass about other teams captains? Although I will say this…For the players captains who don’t have all the "stars" filled in on their nice, little "C" patch, well, it makes great "smack talking shit" material! "Not good enough to be the first captain are you?"
I get that Roger Goodell is trying to provoke a better image for the league amidst all these black clouds that have been hovering over the NFL the past year or so…Wanting to hold players more accountable for their actions, but does the letter "C" on individuals jerseys really do this? I totally understand t
So what’s worse, having vacant "stars" on the oh so important "C" patch or an "A" on your sweater? Both are like the "thanks for coming, door prize" at a damn beauty pageant! "If Miss So & So can’t fulfill her duties and wear the crown proudly our runner up will step in!" Now a few teams have decided not to use the "C" patch at all…Thus telling the commish to take your patch and shove it up your ass! For they don’t see the purpose of the "C"…Kudos to you guys!
Dan Shanoff calls the patches "stupid-looking and lame," but I kind of like them. I myself agree with Shanoff 100 percent…If I wanted to watch hockey, I would! Honestly, I think the more gayer then the two pickle pirates, (or is that headboard bangers) who live above me and watch Nickelodeon every morning and have it so loud a deaf person can hear it! You don’t believe me? Wanna come over sometime? Although that’s just my personal opinion… What do you think?
