What’s That Sound? McMahon’s Bank Account Getting Smaller

I love sports. I love them. They way that they get your heart rate going, your pulse pounding, you start to sweat…it truly is one of my great loves. So why am I writing this?
Because as much as you may hate “fake” wrestling, there is still some sport in it; but mainly because we need to be aware of the ramifications of the recent news from the WWE.
Per ESPN:
“World Wrestling Entertainment, under fire since one of its top stars was involved in a double-murder suicide, announced the suspension of 10 of its wrestlers on Thursday.
They are being suspended for violating the WWE's "wellness policy."
The move comes as investigators from the Albany, N.Y., district attorney's office have been gathering information about steroid use by WWE wrestlers as part of a wide ranging investigation into online pharmacies and the doctors who write prescriptions for them.”
WWE was not forthcoming about names, but today some have come out as being part of the investigation:
Per the New York Daily News:
“The names of the 10 suspended wrestlers weren't announced, but sources tell the Daily News that at least 14 performers were caught up in the Albany district attorney's investigation into illegal Internet drug sales, including some of the WWE's biggest stars. Randy Orton, [[Charlie Haas|Charles Haas Jr.], Adam (Edge) Copeland, Robert (Booker T) Huffman, Shane Helms, Mike Bucci, Anthony Carelli, John (Johnny Nitro) Hennigan, [[William Regal|Darren (William Regal) Matthews], Ken (Mr. Kennedy) Anderson, Eddie (Umaga) Fatu, Shoichi Funaki, Chavo Guerrero and Sylvian Grenier were all identified as clients of Signature Pharmacy in Orlando, the site raided by Albany County and Florida law-enforcement agencies in February for distributing steroids and other prescription drugs to clients who had not been examined by doctors. The investigation is part of a probe into illegal Internet drug distribution by Albany D.A. David Soares.”
Even if you don’t follow the WWE, you have heard some of these names. You know that there are big names on this list.
What stands out to me is that they have several of these guys in massive story lines, guys signed up for pay-per-views, and guys that are holding titles. (I only know this from research…I SWEAR!)
Let me reiterate that there is no concrete evidence on who was SUSPENDED, but these are the names of those in the investigation into the lab that was raided.
I believe that this is a great thing. Not because it is making Vince McMahon lose money (which I am totally okay with), but it is because there will be a lot of inquiries. They may even end up in front of Congress.
Also, it will show other companies such as Major League Baseball and the National Football League that suspending a minor league pitcher means nothing. You need to crack down on your stars. Only then will it make an impact on players.
I don’t care if the WWE goes down the tubes. I only ever watch it if I go to a pay-per-view party or I am drunk. I do care that it will hopefully effect the lives of other athletes positively and they will realize that it will kill you.
